after 1960 the pickins are slim, for me anyway.
One: Meet Me in St. Louis(anything with Judy Garland)
Two: Out of Africa(love Robert Redford and the costumes, sets, etc.)
Three: Das Boot(normal people in war regardless of country would rather be doing something else!)
Four: Battleground(get a kick out of Van Johnson trying to find TP)
Five: Lawrence of Arabia
Six: The Great Dictator(Charlie kicking the globe around -lol
Seven: Our Vines Have Tender Grapes
Eight: 1776
Nine: The Enchanted Cottage -1945
Ten: The War of the Worlds(the alien head still scares the poop out of me!)
Eleven: The Monty Python Movies
Twelve: It Happened One Night(Clark Gable-need I say more)

I could go on forever but these are ones I could watch again and again and not get sick of them!

Heather, you're a gal after my own heart!

Oh Yeah! "Das Boot"! I forgot! I gotta add that one to my list.

So tell me, Girlfriend, have you seen "Summer of '42"? Jennifer O'Neal is SOOO beautiful and does an incredible job. It's a real tear-jerker!

"Enchanted Cottage" was good too.

Did you happen to see "The Boy In Blue"? It's what got me so interested in the sport of rowing.

Yeah -- movies before 1960. GREAT flicks back then.

You MUST have loved "Psycho," then.....?

Bev

Heather Robin, You are from eastern PA too? Whereabouts? I'm between Allentown and Philly.

After I put Mommy Dearest as one of my favorites I wondered what people would think. I actually think the acting was excellent that's why I by no means approve of what she did to her daughter So please don't take it the wrong way.

Glad to have a PA buddy.

I was just curious. Depending on your viewpoint, I know alot of people get a kick out of it being over the top and all the rumored mishaps that happened during filming. Supposedly it was Joan's ghost . I think it is almost a cult classic. And I am from the camp that doesn't believe that Joan beat her kids. Let's just say I am close to a reliable source of information. Yes, I am from Eastern PA, I grew up in the Allentown area and now live in Berks County. I think there is one other person who lives in the Phila area, it is always nice to meet a local!

Really????? I knew nothing about the filming or controversy over it. I just remember watching it years ago and thinking out good Joan acted in it and how good the child actors did. And cult???/ Ewww that's freaky. Ok I guess I won't tell anyone anymore that I like that movie...makes me look bad
Anyhow, we probably live real close. I'm in Montgomery county right next to berks. My husband does real estate appraising on the side and has been to the Berks county area a million times!

the movies you mentioned but will look for them either thru Netflix or on Turner Classic Movies. I have just lately become a fan of Anthony Perkins. I saw him in Catch 22 and there is just something about his acting...so smooth almost like he isn't acting, just going with the flow. I think what he had is hard to find in actors today, especially the big names. My husband and I feel that there are a ton of great actors out, even better than the big celebrities, they are just undiscovered or hanging out in art films and stage. We both took several film classes in college and are always on the look out for good stories. My husband loves this group of Italian horror flicks from the 60's or 70's, I can't think of the titles. I also need to add one more film. Summertime with Katherine Hepburn. You can see the love and pain and sadness through her eyes, she doesn't even have to say a word, now that is acting!!!
