Both of mine are small with mainly black. The only color is a red rose on both of them (red, green, yellow). Neither one is wider than one inch. One is about three inches long and the other is about four inches long. The smaller one cost about $60 and the larger one $80. My husband has several larger tattoos with more detail and more color and they costed several hundred dollars each. You can also get into a lot of cost if you have the artist create a tattoo for you (from a picture or idea) rather than picking one from the gallery at the tattoo studio. Just look at it as an investment in yourself!

"Custom" work often costs more than a design they have there at the shop already ("flash"). The shop I go to charges $100/hour for custom work... which sounds like a lot, but I've had a heck of a lot of tattooin' done in an hour's time!
My smallest tattoo, a simple (2" diameter, roughly) black symbol on the back of my neck, was $50. My largest, full-color birds on my chest, was $300. Tattoos aren't the cheapest thing in the world, but PammySue's right - think of them as an investment in yourself!

Jen,
I did it! I was so nervous before we went that I ended up having to go to the bathroom several times and then when we got in the car to drive off I asked my husband to turn around so I could go one more time.
Once I got there though I was fine and don't know why I was feeling so nervous. It hurt a little bit and I was glad that I hadn't gotten anything bigger but I am very happy that I finally did it.
I will send a pic as soon as my computer/internet is up and running in the new house.
Janey
