Hi,

We will be celebrating my mom's 85th B'day tomorrow at a little party at my sister's house. I am so proud of her. She lives alone and still drives and has a very alert mind.....sometimes better than mine.(that's not too hard to do, though ) She has a very strong faith and belongs to lots of church activities. The only problem she has is arthritis. I am so thankful for her good health after reading some of the posts about other's parents failing health.

Just wanted to share.

The rain has stopped, the sun is shining and my evil NAUSEA is gone!! Life is good.

Barbie, you're both lucky to have each other. How nice to have a good relationship with your mom. I've never had that, so I don't know what it's like.

Have a great party with your sis! Go easy on the Jack.

Aw Bevvy, you are so sweet and caring, I always assumed you must have had some great mothering. Do you have kids? I have a great relationship with my mom (and my dad too, but we are talking about women here) and my grandmother, but you can be my fairy godmother if you want!

You, your mom and your sis, remind me of my mom and sis. We get together and celebrate small and big things, or just to eat lunch. We all live within an hours drive from each other. Hope you have a great day !!!!!

No, I was not able to have children. I was born with a very rare and odd condition that few have ever heard of; I was sterile from birth.

As for my mother, she was not a nice person; I was glad to escape her clutches in 1965 when I threw everything I owned in my little MG and drove out to California, and never went back. I don't even know if she's still alive.

My first fiance was killed in 1963. My beloved father died in 1972. Worst times of my life. No one gets through this life wound-free.

However, I have an absolutely magnificent hubby who adores me; he's my best friend. He makes up for all the other crap in my life. I have no complaints.

I would LOVE to adopt you; I'll make a great fairy Godmother!

Thank you.

Bev

Hi Barbie,

Your post grabbed my attention as my mom will be 85 in January! They're only a few months apart the same as you and I are only a few months apart.

You ARE so lucky to be able to to celebrate her birthday with her and I'm soooooo happy that her mind is alert and that she's in good health.

Wish her a Happy Birthday for me, even though she doesn't know who I am.

Have a great time,

Pat

I am so sorry you have had such a tough time with your family. Hang on to that hubby.....he sounds great! I feel the same way about my step-MIL. After my husband's dad died in 1990 we have had no contact with her and thats OK by me.

We will adopt you into my family anytime.....although, I don't know if you want to get too cozy with my sister.... Her family is a handful and the reason for a lot of my stress. That's OK, though, I'm tough.... I think

Barbie,
Happy b-day to your mom! These are tough years. My mom is 82 and my dad is 87. They are both still doing great, but dad is slipping. I'm heading "home" to Ohio in 2 weeks for their 60th wedding anniversary. My mom and I are very close and it will be hard when I don't have that. I have no sisters - 3 brothers. Bev - I am so sorry that you haven't had a Mom connection.

Barbie - enjoy all the time you can with your mom. I intend to do the same. Happy birthday to your Mom.
S.
