i'm a little down today (actually, quite cranky!) so it's time for a reality check. here goes...
I am thankful for....
- ginger tea (Traditional Medicinals version)
- standing out in the sun for 5 minutes at lunchtime
- being up and out of the house!
- the fact that i only have to be at work for 1 more hour!
- ASPERCREME!
- ah... it's almost FRIDAY!
- Harry Potter: The Prisoner of Azkaban comes out tomorrow! (YAY!)
- oh.... Vegas trip coming soon! (well, it seems like soon..... )
- shh..... my "secret crush!"
- apricots!
- my plants
- my happy flower pen that i made. think i may make some more this weekend and give 'em to people i like.
- the fact that i can get up and take a walk now!
- the buzz of the cicadas
- Ambien!
- i have my CDs again (they were at work that whole time i was at home ) (Keith Urban, I missed you! you, too, Dave Matthews and Rob Thomas!)
- i get to see my niece on Saturday
- Silk yogurt (sorry Bevvy!)
- better yet, chocolate chip cookies!
- changing the colors of my posts (which i always forget to do!)
- getting out of this over-airconditioned room in about 50 minutes! oy, i'm freezin' in here!
- BajaFresh. i can't eat there anymore, but it's nice to know it's out there somewhere.....

Hmm, what am I thankful for:
God, although I could be a more frequent churchgoer, I know he's looking out for me. My wonderful parents and beautiful sister. My friends who I trust with anything. My health. other than IBS I am in good health. My job, I work with great people who treat me well and are very understanding. My apartment that I bought in Nov. of '02 U2, their songs provide a lot of comfort for me in times of need. My secret "crush" The great city of New York. The NY Mets, they give me fits but I love them. Of course, I can't forget the people here on the IBS Boards! And last but not least I am grateful for being alive and able to enjoy life and stay positive about things

Hi Jen, I think this is a really good idea, as I am feeling very sorry for myself today and could use the positive thinking! I am grateful for... -Reality TV (okay, so I don't get as much while in the UK but I am obsessed when better located) -Immodium -My work-mate Kate who seems understanding of my tummy problem as she had a friend in University with no colon (I didn't ask for details) -My boyfriend -Fish tanks with salt water fish -My sister, who is 15 years older than me but the best person to talk to about absolutely anything. -"Friends" the TV show.. even though I have seen all the episodes now, and must settle with re-runs *sigh* -My 2 dogs and how excited they get when I come home -Fuzzy blankets and pillows -Heating pads -Margaritas (not allowed them now, but we had a good relationship while it lasted) -The 's' word. Enough said. -People that are nice, even when they don't have to be. -Paid sick days -Having a job that doesn't make me clean out ashtrays and smell like smoke - WOO HOOO! -Surveys -Matchbox20 and Barenaked Ladies songs -Having a house to move back to with more than one toilet! -Soy chocolate ice cream -Any time that passes without me thinking about my tummy -Sunny days in convertible cars -BBQ food -the way toddlers look when they run (And I don't even like kids!) -The people that were real sh--s in high school, and have turned into somewhat decent people since leaving -MSN Messenger (my link to Canadian friends!) -Faye Kellerman books -Ben Affleck
Hmm, I should stop now. I do feel a bit better though (I just typoed and wrote 'a bitter bet' - oops). Oh, and I am greatful for Jen, for posting this question. --Steph

Way to go, Jen! Just reading everyone's list made me feel better, more at peace with myself and the world.

I'm in, for sure!
I am thankful for...
My eternally-patient boyfriend
My two furballs, Phoebe and Phaedra, a seemingly endless source of laughs and snuggles
My ability to create
The *gorgeous* house that's almost ours!
Kooky, quirky parents & their equally nifty spouses
Two very successful, healthy, happy younger brothers
Rooibus tea
Ginger chews!! (I may never crave chocolate again...)
It's the weekend! (for us!)
A test result delivered today... negative! (one more serious illness ruled out!)
Five fully-functioning senses
My little cube heater
Finding this board and all of you!
...and because I'm always thankful when my loved ones are happy...
My brother's new apartment
My stepfather's new job, a huge step in his career

I'm constantly touching it now. -my 'secret crush' ok, 'crushes'!! -my wonderful quiet appartment that will be ALL mine in three years! -my new bike. I rode around everywhere last night. Exercise calms my tummy and my stress. -cereal honey mix from the recipe site. I eat it all day long and ruin my lunch. -my supportive friends. -desserts that I CAN eat. YaaeH! -my back messager. I use it every night to loosen my neck stress. -warmth and the sun!! I had lunch outside today at work and it was lovely until I got up and noticed I was sitting on a soggy cushion. my butt was soaked... oh well. everyone laughed. -the recipe site for all those ideas! -God's love. -my computer, which I'm always using. I don't even have cable!!

Thanks for the invite, Jen, to join you in writing a grateful list. After having a very down day myself, I'm grateful for:
• my husband....he's been there for me through a lot of tough times • our dogs....they offer unconditional love and support • Imodium....if it weren't for Imodium, some days I wouldn't be able to leave the house. • toilet paper....Quilted Northern double rolls! I can't imagine having IBS-D without out it! • indoor toilets!....need I say more! • our home....it's so comforting on a rough day or any day. • family....they are always there for us • chocolate....even though I shouldn't have it, it makes me happy • memories of my Granny and Uncle John....they were probably two of the biggest inspirations in my life • memories of my cat....I had him from the time he was 6 weeks old til he passed away at the age of 17....he was always there for me • comfortable jeans and T-shirts....I practically live in them • the nerve to buy new shoes that people make fun of!....I learned a lesson • cameras....I love taking photos • my artistic talent....without it, I wouldn't have a career • my talent for writing poetry....it's the easiest way to express my true feelings • last, but not least.....everyone here who truly know what we are all going through
I could go on and on.....but these are the most important things I am grateful for.

so I says to myself "self, what is it you're thankful for" and I came up with a couple things.
- my cat - for making me glad to come home from work each day
- nice, sunny, good flying days
- tailwinds - no Genie, not the type that you suggested to Nugget but the type that means the flight is going to be shorter and I'll be able to get to the airport quicker
- my roommates - even though they have their moments, they are a good bunch of people to live with
- my family - We're not super close, but I know they care for me and are there if I need them
- Sleep, I like sleep
- MSN and e-mail - so much easier to keep in touch with everybody without expensive phone bills
- That even though my stomach has put a kink in my career planes, I'm still able to do what I do
- And finally, everybody on these boards. You truely are wonderful people and have made an incredible difference in my life. It has been so tough being away from family and friends and going through all this. I am incredibly grateful for all the support, friendly chat and laughter I have been able to share with all of you. Even though I haven't met any of you I consider you good friends.

Aw, Jamie, how sweet. Ditto to that. Isn't it funny, I almost feel closer to all of you right now than to my own family. I love them dearly, but they're all busy with their own lives and just don't get it. Plus I don't have the energy right now to socialize much. This board is a lifesaver, and I'm not talking about the candy!!
