A few weeks ago I ordered some new slip on swede tennis shoes from Land's End. Well, I haven't worn them to work before til today and these two gals I work with just made fun of me and called them "Giligan Shoes" and were laughing so hard they were crying. I just want to go home. That's why I never change styles of clothes or try anything new because of people making fun of me. I feel like Rupert on Survivor when he was talking about being made fun of.

People can be so mean and inconsiderate, I would expect this from junior/high school, but from grown women! That is unheard of!
It's hard not to feel terrible when people act this way. They probably do not know what style is...myself, I like to see people wearing different things as that what makes everyone unique (not wearing the same "up to date fashions" as everyone else). Some people make fun of others when they are not self confident, to make themselves feel better. I don't know what your shoes look like, but I am sure they look fine, and as long as they are comfortable and YOU like them, that is all that should matter! I would ignore them, and don't give them the pleasure of having your friendship....

That is unbelievable....grown women!! I understand, it is easy for you or me to say that "we don't care about what other people say or think", but in reality peoples words hurt the most. You are a much better person than both of them.
 Just had a thought....wouldn't it be funny if you had their names for christmas or something and bought them a pair too!!

What kind of an office do you work in, anyway, that fellow workers have nothing better to do than criticize others' shoes!?
Nugget, you need to turn to them and tell them that if they don't have enough work to keep them busy, you'd be happy to oblige with some of YOURS!
Me thinks perhaps there's a little jealousy going on here. Hang in there, Nugget, these children are small and petty; you are above all that. When they tire of trashing you -- and they WILL -- they'll turn to someone else. If they're lucky, the boss won't notice how they're blowing office time with trivial nonsense.

One of my co-workers wears the Lands' End suede slip ons and she walked in and proudly showed us all how dry and warm her feet were and that was that. Her daughters won't go anyplace with her unless she has "cool" shoes on and not moose shoes! Sorry it was yukky. But, did you have warm and dry feet?

Don't worry. Those shoes are you cause you bought them! You are unique like these cool shoes, wear them again tomorrow with a big smile and if your'e having a IBS moment make sure you fart right beside their office! That's one advantage us IBS'ers have!!

Seriously nugget don't worry about it. If you've got to grown women making fun of you cause of what you're wearing, they are the ones with problems not you.
That being said, are you quite friendly with them? It could possibly just be some friendly teasing. However, if they are just work acquintances, then there wow, I hope I'm not that immature when I'm that age.

Dont let them win. If you dont wear them- then the little petty, mean spirited jerks win. We cant let that happen. Wear them with pride. Know that you are better, smarter, nicer, cooler and have more more friends than them. And if you want- you can get some of your friend to come and kick their butts. I will volunteer!
