What do you all think - who's going to win...not that it really matters...they will both do well after the competition I think...but anyway.

I really like Diana, but after tonight, I'll have to say that Fantasia's probably going to win!

Simon's made a big deal in the press about how Fantasia doesn't need to win, she's already been promised a contract by Clive Davis, but Diana does need to win. That with the pity vote makes me think Diana has a chance to win the competition, even if people don't think she's the best.

I personally didn't care much for either of them. The first season I really wanted Kelly to win, but in the second I liked Kimberley Locke best and she wasn't in the final, and this season I liked LaToya best and SHE wasn't in the final two. So no voting for me.

Ok I just watched it. I think that Fantsia did great. Diana was a little off I think. I love her...but I don't think she was as good as she usually is! All 3 of her lines were busy in my area. I was able to get into Fantasia with no trouble. I guess my area wants Diana to win!

Can't wait for tomorrow night!

All three judges saw to it that Fantasia will win.

Didn't you notice how ALL three of them sealed the fate of both Diana and Fantasia with their comments about the fact that Fantasia has "already won it"? They were SOOOO swaying the voters. I almost didn't bother voting, but it angered me so that I fought for a half hour to get through, voting twice for Diane -- then my hubby took over and continued voting for her.

Oh yeah, we got even with the judges.

Bev, I agree with you. Each week the judges have done nothing but praise Fantasa. I don't really care for her voice. It just does nothing for me and all of her songs sound the same to me. I think she has a cute personality though. It really didn't matter how she sang the judges always had something good to say about her. They wanted her to win from the start.

I really liked LaToya. What do I know though. I really didn't get as involved in this one as I did the one before. Didn't feel the connection with the singers as before. I don't know what is was.

We don't get the last show here until Thurs. night so I will look on line tomorrow to find out who won.

Good for you and Hubby for being rebels and voting for Diana as many times as you could. Maybe it will work and then the judges can sit there and say how surprised they are and how the wrong person won.

See... this is why I think Diana has a real chance to win. I also think, as terrible as this sounds, that some people have a problem with Fantasia being 19 and an unwed Mom.

But you want to know what REALLY made me mad?? When Simon said Fantasia was the best American Idol winner of all time. Please. Kelly Clarkson was way better.

Ya know....I think Clay Akin is the best they have ever had. I really think he should have one last year over Ruben. I like Ruben....but Clay is much better. Everyone loves Clay. I think he is bigger than all the other winners...etc. He's so good. Even though he didn't win!

I hope Diana wins....I couldn't get in to vote for her...so maybe thats a good sign!

I was watching "True Hollywood Story" on the "E" Channel last night, and they were featuring American Idol, showing highlights from all the shows, from the first episode to last night's performance.

From the first episode, there has been so much antagonism with Simon; the public has a love/hate relationship with him, and several times he has swayed the public to vote AGAINST him, just as Don and I did last night, because they're so angry with him. He has been surprised by the outcome, and it amazes me that he still doesn't get it. He can sway the public very easily, so if he wants us to vote for Fantasia, either he should keep his big mouth shut about her winning before the fact or he at least stop humiliating her competitor until she breaks down and cries! DUH. And what's up with Paula telling Diana last night that she thought the reason her performance wasn't very good was that she was intimidated by the fabulous performance of her competitor?! ARGH!!!

I would not be at all surprised if Diane got all the votes last night from people like Don and me who got infuriated with Simon. It took us forever to get through, the lines were so busy, but we kept it up for an hour, all the while DETERMINED to get our votes in (and there were many!).

Simon just doesn't get it.

Hey Bev,

I am so sick of how the judges gush over Fantasia. I think the girl can sing but I don't think it's a bit fair to Diana who is singing her heart out, too. Just imagine how she feels when they all say "Fantasia will be our next American Idol"!!!! She is holding up well for being only 16.
Bev, remember being 16 back in the day??? I was a Junior in high school and boy crazy!!! Glad I outgrew that!

Even if Fantasia wins, Diana will still have a great career. Remember Ruben won last year and I hardly ever see him but I see Clay all the time appearing on different shows. Darn, I am going to have to miss tonight's show because we have a retirement party to go to. Boo Hoo!

Hope you are feeling good today.

Yes, I agree. I'll be glad when we get into the next round. BTW, is that what they're talking about when Ryan announces the "American Idol TOUR"? I have no idea what he means -- unless it's the next go-round?

Yeah. 16. I had just met the love of my life (who was to become my first fiance 2 years later, then killed just before our wedding). I was SOOOO happy then. Ah yes, sweet 16 and never kissed! [Ain't THAT a joke!]

I'm doin' well, thanks, Girlfriend. Just came from the builder and went over "The Budget." Ouch. Of course I'm broke and will be in the poor house for the rest of my life, but hey I'm IBS-symptom-free, so I'm a happy camper!

Thanks for asking! Enjoy that retirement party! I'm sure you'll have more fun than watching the gruesome ending to AI.

Thanks. Do you know when the next round starts? That's the part of the show I like the best -- the first performances. I'm so damn addicted to this show, I'm gonna have withdrawals 'till it starts up again!

Hey Bev,

Just got home from party. I ate toooooooo much! Took an alka seltzer and I don't think I can go to bed because I'm stuffed.
Tuned in on the last couple minutes of Idol. Figured Fantasia won (who would have guessed) because she was singing and they were throwing confetti all over. It seemed like a presidential campaign instead of singing competition. Did I miss anything worthwhile?
Bev, I was so sorry to hear about your first fiance. What happened or would you rather not say?
Good luck with your new home. What is it like? My son is moving into his new house this weekend in Clearfield, UT. He is so excited. We live in our first home...30 yrs.... but I love it and the neighborhood with lots of trees and I feel secure here. My husband said we could move to a new one but I don't want to. Some of the reason is I'm too lazy to move all the stuff...in the attic...in the garage...etc. I would have an IBS attack big time!!

Hey, Girlfriend!

Here's a pic of our house, taken TWO MONTHS AGO: web page

It's changed a lot since I took that pic; I need to replace it with an updated one. We're anticipating moving in about 5 weeks from now. The sheetrock is up and they're taping; painting is scheduled to begin next week. We met with the builder last night; it was about "The Budget." As nervous as my tummy was, I worried needlessly. This is the best new home construction we've ever gone through. We're very excited.

30 years in the same house is a very long time. I didn't want to do that because I didn't want to pay a mortgage for that long. However, the house we bought 34 years ago and paid $74,000 for sold 10 years ago for $485. So just imagine what your home is worth now!

AI last night was really showy! WOW! New Year's celebration in Times Square couldn't compare. The best thing about the show was the performances by all 12 of the finalists. I LOVED seeing them again -- especially my favorite crooner and the pen salesman (JPL)! Cute guys. As for the outcome, well, no surprise there. I'm anxious for the next "go-round" because I like the first round of eliminations best of all. BTW, Simon could not have been more pompous -- wow, is that man stuck on himself!

WHY are we so addicted to this show?!?

Glad you had a good time last night. How ya feelin' this morning?

Woo Hoo! Bev,

What a great house. I love the trees. I know you must be so excited. Did you have fun picking out all the stuff? Sometimes that can be overwhelming. We had our house updated recently, and I just about went nuts picking out tile, carpet, etc.

You know what I think? I think Simon needs to have IBS. That would take him down a few notches!!!! ha ha
Can you just imagine him having an "explosive D" attack right in the middle of his pompous remarks....having to jump out of his chair and head for the bathroom... Gee, that would be a sight to behold!

Thanks for asking, and I do feel good this morning. Don't know how that is possible after stuffing myself with fried shrimp last night, but so far so good. Are you still doing OK....psssssst "without fiber supplements"??? Hope LS doesn't read this!

Thanks, Barbie. Picking everything out was fun; I loved every minute of it! However, trying to keep the budget down was a whole other issue.... You'd be amazed at how many "extras" are involved in building a new home. You contract for a certain price with certain things you want included. But then go out and try to choose those "certain things" at the contracted price. ARGH! I did have a little panic attack while trying to choose light fixtures, but it went away as soon as I ran out of the store.

Yeah, don't tell LS (or anyone), but I'm completely IBS-symptom-free since giving up the Acacia. I bought some Benefiber, but I'm afraid of it. Hubby doesn't want me to take anything; I am SOOO back to my old self, and I gotta tell ya, it feels GOOOOOOD.
