holy crap! i can't believe it. i'm just now listening to Ryan get ready to announce who is leaving. it's ridiculous. now i'm a huge fan of Jasmine's but this is a tragedy. i can't stand Fantasia, but she's still doing better than Jasmine did....

Jasmine sucks, I don't like Fantasia too awful much, and I adored (and I mean ADORED!) LaToya and Diana!! I'm with you. If Fantasia goes next week, there's definitley some racist thing going on!

I too was sooo incredibly shocked!!  I don't agree with you that it is a racial issue. I think people just like Diana cause she's young, and love jasmine cause she's sweet and cute. Latoya is clearly a WAAAAAAY better singer, but she didn't have any trademark that made her stand out besides her voice. I think america's gone wacko and is voting basically on who they think is cute etc. Its becoming more of a popularity contest then a singing contest. I think that is why john stevens was in it so long, because he was a nice and sweet boy. He was popular with the fans. I think that far outweighs the racial factor.
As for fantasia I think she belonged in the bottom two, she is not my favorite singer.

Oh I am soooooo MAD  I really wanted La Toya to win!!!! I'm really sad that she's off.
I think what happens is the judges tell everyone that Jasmin...or even John Stevens are gone...they told them both your done your going to be voted off.So then America goes crazy and votes for them so they at least have sympathy votes.....but everone is giving them sympathy votes and then they are safe. Or everyone thinks La Toya and Fantasia will get tons of votes so they vote for the underdog. What ever is happening....IT SUCKS!!!!!
La Toya was and is the best!  I think she will go far however!!! She will get a record deal and make it huge!!!!

When Simon told Jasmine that if every family in Hawaii had 5 phone lines and called to vote for her, she still would not win, it p%^$$%^ people off and they called in and voted for her. This poor girl cannot sing on key, she sings flat all of the time,and bless her heart I dont think she or her family realizes it. She is not talented enough to be where she is.
I dont think this is a racial issue at all. It all boils down to what Simon says,and how he says it. What a shame. Elton John said he would give her a contract when he was on the show (Latoya). I think Diana is going to sneak up on all of them and possibly win the show. I was screaming at the tv too!

I agree with you all, about people listening to the judges. Everyone boos and complains when simon says something, but he basically speaks the truth. I personally would rather have someone tell it like it is so I can work harder and improve, than sugar coat everything like paula does.

When was it on??!!!!! I flipped thru the channels at 7 pm and at 8pm and it wasnt on either time!!! Some sci-fi type show was on at 8pm,that 70's show was an hour long,so i gave up and went to bed early.Darn i missed it!!!! So they let LaToya go?....wow, she was a great singer, i thought for sure Jasmine would go....huh, i guess thats how they keep viewers coming back!

Hi Jen,
I know this is hard to believe but I am speechless!!!! Even so, I have a few comments.... I think the audience was flabbergasted just like we were. I agree with the other posts about the public that is calling in is just trying to spite Simon when he says a person should be voted off. I definitely don't think it's racial...it's a Simon thing!!!
Remember last year Ruben won.
I think it will be down to Fantasia and Diana.

No, it was a NIGHTMARE! OMG! We're still in shock. As soon as the program was over, we went to bed and fell fast asleep. I just now woke up, and I keep thinking to myself, "Self, I dreamt that, right?"
WHAT HAPPENED?! I was positive LaToya was gonna be the winner. I had no doubt of it. And I also thought Jasmine was gonna get the axe. WOW!
Simon was right, absolutely right, when he said Jasmine has a lot of thank-you letters to write to the entire state of Hawaii!
As bad as this may sound, look at how interesting the program has suddenly gotten. Don'tcha just know EVERYONE will stay tuned next week to see what happens! The producers couldn't have written a more exciting script.
I'm flabberghasted. Now I think it's just possible Diane might win it after all!

I keept dreaming about it last night! I will be very upset if some how Jasmin won....wouldn't that be nuts??? I mean, it could happen. Just look at last night! NUTS!!! I told my husband..why are they even doing this show? Everyone knows Jasmin is going home!!! I would never have guessed La Toya!
Its sad! Ya know where I live people couln't get through to vote for La Toya...it would pick up and say the line has been diconected. MAKES me WONDER???
OH WELL....nothing we can do.....except make sure that Diana wins!!!!

i hear what you're saying, and i think you definitely have valid points, but let me point something out: LaToya is GORGEOUS! i can't imagine if everyone is out there voting based on looks they aren't going to vote for her!? yes, Jasmine is also beautiful. i think she's adorable. and Diana is cute and when she grows up a little she's may be a knockout (she's just a kid right now, to me). but geez... i would give my right arm to look like LaToya!
America has their heads up their tushies if they're voting based on looks. it's a POP MUSIC show, not a CUTE KID show! OY OY OY OY OY!

My husband's been asking me this since last year, and now I am finally (I'm so gullible) beginning to think he's right. I think the whole thing is rigged--- to keep people watching. If it were too predictable, no one would tune in the following week.
One day, years down the line, Simon's gonna write a tell-all book and admit the whole thing was a fraud. Then we'll all feel like fools for watching it.
I'm just as hooked on it as anyone. I can't believe I'm even watching it after last year's experience. Most people in the Charlotte area (where Clay Aiken went to school and where I live) couldn't get through to vote for him last year. What a rip-off!

My local fox news reported that people couldn't get through to vote...the line would pick up and say this line has been disconected. I've voted before and when the lines are closed after the 2 hours it says the lines are closed please tune in tomorrow night for the results. Something like that...the last time I voted it was for Clay!!! Gosh I think I'll start voting...for Diana! The other two don't deserve it....well Fantasia does more than Jasmin!!!

Bev, I didn't mean you were stupid for watching it! I'm just as bad as anyone else about it. Every week (especially this week) I get so mad I say I'll never watch it again---and then I do. I don't know what it is about this show, but it is addictive! Even my parents (who are in their 70's) started watching it and can't quit. Goodness! Look how much time we're wasting on this show. It comes on 3 times this week!!!!!
You know it's bad when the phone rings during the show, and you scream at your husband, "Don't get it! Let the answering machine get it!"
One week my husband was out of town on a business trip and he called me during the show. I screamed at him---"I can't talk now. So-and-so's singing! Call me back later!" and I hung up on him. I'm surprised he's still speaking to me.

the voting is all electronic. Why wouldn't they count them? Its all on computers. I think they really do count the votes. If its all on computers its not hard for them to do so!
My thoughts are they do rig it however...they probable thought La Toya is so good...she doesn't need to win. Lets further these other girls. That way they will all make us $$$MONEY!!!! Everyone knows La Toya will make it big...she didn't need to win to be big!!!
But someone like Jasmine needs to be in the final 3!!! Does this make sense to anyone...its hard to explain....I think when the show started to get predictable they wanted to mix things up a little!!! I just don't see how La Toya is out!!!

I don't know. I don't think it's rigged.......if it was then wouldn't someone have blabbed or found out somehow? With all of those reporters on their backs, someone should have figured it out, right? But I don't know how the whole industry works, so that's just my thought.
But if it is rigged, your suggestions make sense! LaToya doesn't NEED to win to be successful! She can be famous without the show. And she most likely will be. I think what happened with Jasmine is that almost all of Hawaii voted for her for the full two hours. I know that in the first season, Nikki McGibbon (isn't that her name?) would call and vote for herself over and over so that she could come back the next week and "redeem herself." SO ya never knwo what's going on!
