Hey everyone, Wish me luck today, I've decided to go back for the second barium test despite the fact that I'm still pretty much doubled over in pain from the first one My doc said it was better to get it over with and that the chances that they'll find something and can help me should outweigh me not wanting to do the test.
So, I could use some positive vibes today Wish me luck and hopefully all will go well!
Kelly

Good luck, Kelly. We'll be anxious to hear the outcome. Be sure to let us know, okay?

Thanks to everyone for their good luck wishes
Unfortunately things didn't work out all that well, the doctor who referred me for the test gave me the wrong prep so when I got there they said they couldn't do the test! I couldn't believe it, I questioned the prep instructions because they came from another hospital, but my doctor assured me they were fine (they just told me not to eat/drink after midnight, when the hospital requires you to take laxatives) and then when I got there it turned out I was right.
So, I was pretty frustrated, and so the tech went and got the radiology doctor for me, and when I explained to him the abdominal problems I had after the first barium test, he said in his opinion, even if I had the prep, he wouldn't feel comfortable giving me more barium at this point, that other alternatives should be looked into! I couldn't believe it, I inquired with my doctor and a nurse, and they both said, "ah just go and get it over with" which surprised me because I've been really sick, and finally, someone took it seriously.
So, I guess it was kinda a blessing in disguise that I didn't have the prep. Now, the radiologist doctor is going to contact my doc and see what the heck is going on, and they may look to do an endoscopy instead or something.
It's been a strange day...

you know, it's nice to know the radiologists know what's going on!
my mother has been going through a lot after a severe spiral fracture of the femur and at times the only coherent person on her medical team was the radiologist...
hopefully he'll talk some sense into your doctor.
sorry you "wasted" a day, but stay positive: you may acually have been "heard!"

Oh geez, Kelly! If I were you, I think I'd seriously consider getting a new doctor. Not sure I'd personally feel comfortable going back to one that made that many mistakes.
Hope everything gets straightened out for you and sorry to hear you're having such a tough time with this!
