So I read this great book about CFS/fibro and it kept mentioning this Doctor who seems quite impressive. He's into a multi-discipline approach and seems to have GREAT results. In fact, he's supposedly a former -CFSer himself and considers himself cured.
OK, so what's so cool is that his practice is RIGHT HERE in Maryland! How awesome. So I called today to make an appointment.
Found out: A) He doesn't take my insurance B) He doesn't work with insurance AT ALL C) His staff won't even file insurance paperwork for you, you have to do it yourself D) Each appointment is $5,800! ("but it's 4 1/2 hours long and you never have to see him again" according to the woman I spoke to. How nice.)
ARE YOU KIDDING ME!? I CAN'T AFFORD TO SPEND THAT ON ANYTHING, even if it IS going to "heal me."
Thoughts, anyone?

Wow....I can't believe that!!!
I would love to find out exactly how he is able to cure people in 4 hours so they never have to see him again!!
I can't believe it's that expensive....I'm sorry to hear that Jen...maybe you should think about writing the office a letter and telling them how unfair it is that they charge so much and don't accept insurance

OMG! What kind of "healer" is this guy? Is this the one in Annapolis? The one you were looking forward to seeing? Oh, this is not good. Not good at all.....
KEEP LOOKING!

It sounds like maybe 20/20 or 48 hours should do a story on this so-called doctor and get to the bottom (so to speak ) of things. The only way he says he can heal people in 4 hours is because he takes all their money and they can't afford to go back!

... people either never have to see him again because they are so broke or so crazy to have paid that amount in the first place that they believe they are cured when they are not.
What the heck could he be doing in 4 hours to warrant charging that amount? Unless it's lining your pockets with Gold or writing you a refund cheque I don't see how it could be worth it.
Maybe there are so few people willing to see him that he has to charge that amount to the few poor people that do?
I would be very skeptical.....

Though this dude has a pretty soundly written book... It's got tons of stuff that are backed up by other doctors and studies.
I'm just disgusted he's capitalizing on the misfortune of sick people. I understand everyone needs to make a living and I certainly hope everyone in the world makes a good living that allows them to live in stlye, but I'm pretty sure this dude would be living in style with lower fees and through working with insurance. I know MY doctor is driving a BMW and living in quite a ritzy neighborhood and sending his kids to the best schools and going on the finest vacations--- he's my friend! I know these things! But you can bet he's not charging me close to 6,000 bucks per visit and he sure works with insurance!
ARGH!
Well, I'm taking some of his stuff from his book ($13.95) and taking it to another doctor ($10 copay) and getting better anyway!
