....and all of a sudden I got really nervous! I don't know why. He's a great doc and all he's going to do is poke around on my belly, listen to my insides and give me a prescription for the stuff he already gave me samples of. Why do I let myself have these nervous moments? Everythings going to be alright. Right?

You bet everything's going to be alright, Girlfriend! Just sit down and make a list of everything that's bothering you and what you want to ask. Don't depend on your memory, because as soon as he walks through that examining room door in his white coat (damn I hate that!), your mind will shut off, and all those things you just KNEW you'd remember will disappear completely from your mind, only to return after you leave his office! (I REALLY hate that!)
Trust me. Make a list.
Knowledge is power, Girlfriend.

Ah, the joys of the doctor's surgery... fortuntately, they don't wear white coats here (GPs, that is - do you call them MD's?) but I still get nervous...
Mind you, one of mine once suggested I have a baby to cure my period pains, and then ducked quickly in case I hit him!? and another time when he had to examine my breasts (because of a funny rash that turned out to be nothing), he developed a 'school-boy' grin, which admittedly he tried to stifle but I still saw it and felt like a fool....
Anyway, I try to avoid seeing him now! Keep smiling Shells

of a funny story about a friend of my mums, who shall remain nameless to save the last scrap of dignity she has!!
After having had first baby, she had a major issue having to undress and being examined - still sadly full of inhibitions was she. So, upon discovering her second pregnancy she determined to cope with any loss of dignity better this time. She made it through the pregnancy and even birth without too much blushing, but alas, had to have stitches. She waited calmly for the doctor's final examination and when he appeared at the door, she threw herself on the bed, and lifted up her nightie - at which point, doctor looked down and said "Very nice, but I've come to examine the baby".
AAAARRRRHHH - she didn't have any more children!!!
Shells
Er, sorry Nugget, none of this is very helpful for you is it?!! I'm sure you'll be OK.

I bring lists all the time. First you wait in the waiting room, then in your paper outfit in his room and by the time he gets there you forget half of what you wanted to ask.

Lists are a REALLY good idea. If I forget my lists then I ALWAYS forget to ask something!

Just remember the deep breathing, and keep telling yourself "it's only an hour... it's only an hour."
You can do it, sweets! We're rooting for ya!
Drink some tea to calm down (but not so much that you have to pee on the poor man when he pokes your tummy!)
