in IBS diet board. You know what is funny? You asked me about going from one to two when you were pregnant. I was so cautious not to let on how hard it was for me. I thought maybe I was the exception and I had the PPD with her. Now you are trying to be careful and trying to be positive for me. I really appreciate that about you.

You know, I feel exactly the same way about you!

Han,
Thank you for the lovely things you said though I definately don't think I'm amazing and sometimes I'm very close to giving in and taking meds. However, it is just that my heartbreaking need to have another child is stronger than the need to give in and take the meds. If I take them I have to stop the IVF and that is just an unbearable thought for me right now. Whilst I'm not on meds I do have a lot of cognitive therapy going on. That is what keeps me afloat I think.

Also, I have some idea where you are coming from with the OCD as both my husband and I have been diagnosed with it. He really fears the germs etc and is also constantly checking himself a million times over with everything related to work. (Though he's really well now)

I do have problems with germs but my real issue is tidiness and order. I was getting so ahead of myself that I was doing my big house clean a day earlier all the time to make sure "it got done". Let's just say I wound up doing everything every day and running myslef ragged. My anxiety comes from worrying about how I'll get everything done in time etc, and done perfectly. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I feel like I can't control the baby situation so I have to control everything else that I can.

I can't bear a single thing to be out of place whereas my husband is fine with that.

It is true that they do get sick often for a while when they first go into care. Harry had a different cold each week for the first few months but after that I think his immunity was built up and he was fine. Now he just suffers the occasional illness as he would if I kept him home. I hope that doesn't scare you but I thought you might want to know what to expect.

I admire you for even looking into the day care when it directly challenges your fears. That shows real strength. I would visit lots of different centres until you find one that you are really happy with. That was what I did and I specifically asked about washing hands, the handling of food etc. Let's face it you pay good money so you have every right to know everything.

You are doing a fantastic job.

Kerrie

Did you get tummy aches? I can not tell if it is my bowels and insides or the baby. I am really scared and just wondering how you felt.

First, Congratulations!! I'm also really sorry to hear about you losses. How far along are you?

I am only 6 1/2 weeks along. My IBS started after my last pregnancy so I can't really say how it will be during a pregnancy. HanSolo has two children and Lana is due the end of April. My IBS has been pretty good but that was happening a few weeks before I was actually pregnant. I was finding I could eat foods I never would have before. The only problem I had was with a vitamin that had a stool softener. It made me pretty sick. I only took them twice and the new one works great.

I do get a little crampy at times. Is that what you mean? Right now it is the ligaments stretching. It is scary all the changes your body goes through when you pregnant. It is hard not to worry something will go wrong, especially with what you have been through.

I find I have more constipation now. The constipation is maybe one day a week and it isn't too uncomfortable. I can also get gassy when I'm pregnant. Well, let's say it can be worse. Let me know if I am answering you questions. I'm not sure.

Welcome and Congrats. Torbetta had good suggestions - it's great - you two can go through your pregnancies at the same time!
Don't worry - you CAN manage IBS through pregnancy. It can get a bit tricky, but nothing we can't handle (I think!)
As for feeling sick, well, who knows the cause. It could be IBS, or it could be those wonderful first few weeks of being pregnant. I was nauseous all the time! I felt like I could gag on the drop of a dime.
Try LOTS of ginger tea - it's great for upset tummies. Peppermint is also great. Ginger tea- cut a slice the size of a quarter and steep in a mug of boiling water.
Let us know what questions you have- we're here to help.

Thanks, At this point all the support I can get makes me feel less alone. As for my IBS I am C and its killing me. I am high risk so I cant really take any thing. I have a doc apt tomarrow so I will be asking a lot of questions.

Sorry I didn't read your post before now, Hans....I feel for you. I've never had children and cannot have children, so I don't know exactly how you are feeling, but I have had depression and know how hard that can be. I hope you are feeling better soon and just know that we are all here for you. {{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}
