Ooh... Kandee, around here if there's ice they have to close everything down. You'd think Texans had never heard of slowing down when roads are slippery!!

And I'm with you on the 115 degrees summers! Although the cold weather used to make my intestines spasm really uncomfortably, so I'm glad to give it up for the heat!

I bet it would be really weird for you to come back here again, Kandee! You'd be freezing, just like I'd be sweating to death if I were to come there in the Summer! Actually, I'd prefer something more middle of the road. I've lived here my whole life, and I still hate the Winters here. I'm thinking maybe I'll move to Maryland someday... that seems much more temperate.

Hey Chinagrl, There are a lot of things that blow my mind about TX.............no fault frontage roads to the freeways, quart beers (with handy can opener) right in front as you walk into the convenience stores........and more.

When I was there last Feb it was right after the ice storm and they still had things shut down even though it was only raining by then, so I know what you mean.

Like you, I do warm weather better now than cold, (since developing IBS).....before it was the reverse.....can't win. Besides, eating soooo low fat, I'm cold all the time.

If/When I get to Austin again to visit my daughter, I'll look you up, ok?

LOMBO.............
Oh my girl, you have to start doing some traveling, last I looked at the map, Maryland wasn't exactly what you'd call middle of the road. How about Hot-lanta? Or Denver?

Growing up in AZ we jokingly said that our blood was thinner and that's why we got cold so fast. Seems like there has been some research that actually supports that notion. I forgot all the details now but the findings were that people who live in cold country as opposed to those who live in warm areas REALLY do have different blood....something to do with the viscosity maybe? (Any nurses around to help me out here?)

But, you're right, I'd freeze back there.........sure would like to spend part of a summer there though.

Ah yes, the Frontage roads! Yes indeed... we can try to find IBS friendly lunch foods.

See, Hot-Lanta would be way too hot for me! I'm a Northeastern gal! I don't think I could handle the heat anywhere South of Maryland! That's how I reasoned it anyway, lol.

That's interesting about there being physical evidence for how we adapt to our climate! I actually had an online friend from Oman who moved to Florida with her family a couple of months ago, and even though it was still in the 60s or so at that point she was freezing her butt off! I don't know if she ever got used to it. And to hear her say what the temp was I almost laughed, because we were in the 30s already at that time... but I know it was just what she was used to!
