So, the ONLY thing one can do is use the free web space with their ISP? Or pay for a web site? Or, like in the case of the smileys, grab the URL IF they have a .jpg or .gif extention?

Not ALL websites with logins and passwords prohibit this, but in my experience, I have found that most do.

Unfortunately, someone else will have to help you out with which sites will let you display personal pictures on here from their site. I believe China girl mentioned a site in a previous post or thread.

Hmm.. didn't feel a quake up here so must not have been as big as the one a couple months ago! Thankfully...

Thanks. Kenzie is a real gem. He always goes wherever we go, and causes a commotion every time.

We leave him in the back of the car while we're in the grocery store, and when we return to the car, there's always a crowd around it, tapping at the window, ooing and awing at him. He cries until we open the window so the strangers can pet him. And little children are his absolute favorites -- they're little, like he is, and he whines something fierce until we finally let him crawl all over the little child, licking him everywhere. It's absolutely adorable, and the children love it. (We would never allow it, of course, if the child was fearful or the parent didn't want it.) He just loves children soooooo much.

Sometimes when I think he wants to play with his favorite toy, I'll crawl on the floor with it, but instead he ignores the toy and comes right up to my face and kisses me on the nose.

He's the love of my life, the only baby I'll ever have.

Oh Bev, I'm not usually a dog-lover, but your Kenzie sounds like an absolute sweetie!

OMG! Girl, are you feeling alright?

How can you resist these guys? They love you unconditionally. No matter what you've done, or what your faults, they love you. When you're down and out, feeling really awful, they come up to you, climb in your lap, and lick your tears away. Some dogs have been known to save their masters' lives, even at the risk of their own.

How can you not love these marvelous creatures? Me thinks perhaps you haven't been exposed enough to them to really appreciate how terrific they truly are. Definitely "persons' best friend."

Okay, let me clarify. I like older dogs, who are very mellow and will just keep you company and be by your side. I think they're adorable. But... I'm just not into young, lively dogs who jump all over you and ruin your clothes. I guess I'm just not in a dog mood right now since I went to my aunt's house last night and she let her dog jump on everyone, even my elderly grandmother who could easily be injured by his claws! People who let their dogs run wild are a big pet peeve of mine. I guess in all I'm just a lot more of a cat person. There's nothing better than sitting on the couch with a warm, furry bundle curled up on your lap and purring contentedly. A dog can't beat that.

Bad Pet Manners new

I don't blame you for being upset ABOUT your aunt's dog. There's no excuse for bad pet behavior, whether it's from a dog OR a cat. BUT -- the fault is with your aunt, NOT the dog. Everyone who has a pet has a responsibility to teach it manners. No one wants to come to your home to visit, only to have a ill-mannered animal jump up on him or her for any reason whatsoever.

I am terribly allergic to cats (it's the dander, not the cat); my eyes swell up and itch, my throat itches, and I can't stop sneezing. When I go to a friend's house to visit, and they allow their cat to rub up against me despite my protestations, I have to turn around and leave. It's not the cat's fault, but the friend who allows it. It's called bad pet manners. I don't blame the cat; I blame the friend for allowing it.

Let me tell you a little dog story. You may not like dogs, but this is a story you can at least appreciate. Back in 1974, hubby and I had a little seaside cottage on the coast in Northern California. It had a lot of windows all around and a front door of all glass -- to let in the incredible view of the ocean. Very romantic, very scenic. At the time, we had a very big dog -- a doberman named Max. That dog was incredibly intelligent and very obedient. We saw to it -- taking him to dog class (he graduated) and religiously working with him, training him to obey and respect us and our family. There's nothing that dog wouldn't have done to protect us.

One day I was home alone in the middle of the day. I had just gotten out of the shower when two strange men came to the front door and knocked, very loudly. I had a towel wrapped around me, nothing more, and I was scared; the men could see me right through the glass on the front door. I don't know whether they knew I was home alone, but I had a very bad feeling about them. Max knew I was afraid -- he smelled it -- and he came tearing into that living room, ready to protect me, and charged at the front door. Those men turn around and beat feet out of there so fast, I hardly knew what happened. I never did find out what they wanted, nor did I care. I didn't need a gun for protection; I had my beloved dog, Max. He calmed down as soon as the men ran away and came over to me to make sure I was okay; all he needed for reassurance was a hand on him.

Now THAT's what a dog can do for you!

Thanks. Believe it or not, that was the present I gave my husband for our first wedding anniversary.
