My apologies, Gerry, for making you think about being old. I was hoping to encourage you, to make you stop and think about how nice it is to "have a head on your shoulders" after so many years. I guess my attempt was lame, and I do apologize.

The age thing is hard for all of us -- we all have to come to grips with it -- and I can see that hubby has his bad moments; come November he'll be 70, and I really am worrying about how I'm going to help him through it -- especially now, because I'm obviously not very good at it.

Don is a wonderful man who occasionally drives a van for a convalescent center, helping handicapped elderly people. He's terrific at it, and they all love him and appreciate his efforts very much. He used to drive a van for mentally and physically challenged children, and they felt the same about him, sending him incredibly touching cards with their pictures and sentiments on them -- they used to just tear me apart. He has so much to offer people, and so do you, Gerry. Please keep up that wonderful sense of humor of yours -- and also accept my apologies?

Your friend, Bev

Gerry, you're an inspiration. I'm 50 and there are days I feel like I'm 80 due to all my other health problems. The computer keeps me sane and distracts me until I feel my real age again.

You go, girl!!

Gerry, I'm also sorry you're feeling old! I'm not sure how old you are, but I've seen my grandmother go through what you're describing and lose the ability to do the things she used to enjoy and I know how tough it can be. I guess in situations like that it's sometimes hard to count our blessings, but that's what we have to do to keep from despairing. I mean, just think, you can still come talk to us wonderful people, right? Hey, I'm trying.
