I wanted to start eatting whole grain bread and am not sure if it is part of the ibs diet. I have been eatting french and sourdough for so long and an trying to eat really healthy again. Does anyone eat whole grain bread and if they do what brand or type do they get?

Are you IBS-C, IBS-D or IBS-A. It is helpful to put this information in your signature so we known what sort of advice to give.

Whole grains are known to exacerbate IBS. The IBS research is quite clear on this fact. They are at the top of the insoluble fiber list. It is best to avoid them and get your insoluble fiber from fruits and veggies. It might be worth while reviewing the information on soluble and insoluble fiber on the web site and in Heather's books. There is nothing unhealthy about sourdough and french bread. It is the whole grains that are unhealthy for IBS.

Questions about foods and diet are best asked on the IBS diet board. The living room is more for non-IBS diet questions.

Yes, I do. I usually do one piece of whole grain with one piece of a sourdough. I know what you mean about eating the "white breads" all the time. I know that whole grains are so much healthier, but with IBS it might present problems for you. That's why I do a piece of each. Works beautifully!
