How come the "Eating for IBS" book says to take Memamucil or Citracel? I thought that gave you more bloating than Heather acacia fiber.

Okay to clear the air, Heather was only recommending those because they are options. She didn't want to completely eliminate the possibility of other fiber supplements helping people. For the record, metamucil generally causes increased gas and bloating and comes from Psyllium. Citrucel either has artificial sweeteners or artificial coloring that can also trigger IBS. Acacia of course is the first choice of use for IBS as it is the least gas forming fiber out there. The next best choice is benefiber, as it contains all soluble fiber. However, many folks have problems with all of these and end up sticking to the Acacia and the diet for IBS to help them stabalize.

I hope this helps
Erin

Because not everyone tolerates Acacia....so Heather wanted to offer other options.

What do u mean tolerate? Is that why i'm more bloated? What are the symptoms if you don't tolerate it. I'm just trying to figure out why i'm extemely bloated for the past 2 weeks. It's not getting better. I reduced the acacia to 1/4 tsp. every day.
