I had surgery on 12/09/2008. Have had severe constipation since then. Doctor who did surgery put me on 3 colais, 2tbsp. Milk of magnesia a day. Since then have had colonoscopy and barum enema. Tests came out negative. Praise the Lord. GI doctor put me on Amitisa but has not helped. Any suggestions. Family doctor said my condition was a form of IBS. GI called it weak colon, rectum dysfunction. Surgery was for a prolapsed rectum, perenium dysfunction, and rectocele. Surgery took 12 hrs. I am in tears and in pain because of constipation. I cann't push it out. Plan was to work up to 25-30 grams of fiber and slowly get off colais and MOM. It seems only thing that works is Magnesium Citrate.
