BEING A PERSON WITH IBS IS HARD TILL YOU FIND YOUR NITCH. YOU NEVER REALLY KNOW FROM ONE MOMENT TO THE NEXT HOW YOUR TUMMY IS GOING TO MAKE YOU FEEL. MY EMPLOYER AND CO WORKERS KNOW THAT I HAVE IBS AND HOW IT AFFECTS ME. ITS HARD BEING AT WORK ALL THE TIME WITH MY TUMMY CRAMPING, BUBBLING, BLOATING ETC... MIND YOU THAT IM NOT ALWAYS LIKE THIS MAYBE ONCE EVERY MONTH AND A HALF. THEY SEE THE DIFFERENCE IT MAKES IN ME. I FEEL THOUGH THAT THEY GET TIRED OF MY TELLING THEM THAT I DONT FEEL WELL OR WHEN I HAVE TO CALL IN. DO ANY OF YOU'LL HAVE THIS PROBLEM OF NOT ALWAYS COMING IN TO WORK, GETTING STRANGE FEELINGS FROM CO WORKERS, FEEL INADAQUATE TO BE IN A CONSTANT WORKING ENVIROMENT? I AM REALLY PREPARING MYSELF INTO WORKING FROM HOME CAUSE I KNOW I AM STILL CAPABLE TO WORK, I JUST HAVE TO WORK AROUND MY TUMMY!

Hi,
I have had some problems that are related to work and IBS. Unfortunately, I work in a bungalow that is very far away from any bathrooms. This creates quite a challenge. I am a teacher and it is a problem for my students, too. My boss will move me to another school that doesn't have this problem, but I love my school and students and don't want to leave. So I am very, very careful about what I eat. I also don't talk about my IBS much because people who don't have the problem don't usually understand the terrible affects of it. So I keep quiet.
I hope all goes well with you and your work. It is a hard situation.
Mary
