My doctor prescribed Celexa for my anxiety, and I took my first pill last night (10mg). Within half an hour I felt super nauseous and had a lot of gas. I tried my normal remedies without much success. Then, to top it off, I couldn't sleep at all! I took a sleeping pill, which usually knocks me out well, but I was up every 2 hours. Has anyone had similar side effects? Did they fade eventually? It seems like I won't possibly be any less anxious on 3 hours of sleep and a shaky stomach! Suggestions???

Sending you {{hugs}} too... been right where you are. Celexa is a SSRI and although I have never taken it, other SSRIs - cause me to have anxiety/panic episodes - rapid HB, sweaty/clammy, jittery, nausea, inability to calm down. You would think the opposite since we need serotonin in - produced in our gut- as well as our brain - to help the IBS, but this particular drug class does the opposite to me.
The good news is, it does wear off - drink lots of water and hope you are feeling better by now.
The bad news is, once you are my age and going through menopause you are up half the night anyway! - Dorothy
