I'm new here . . . I found this site the day I was diagnosed two weeks ago . . . Thank you!!!

My darling hubby bought me Heather's book on a trip to Border's, I'll be trying recipes this week, while on vacation. Within four days of starting the fiber recommended by my doctor and Heather (I started w/ Fibersure, but started Acacia Tummy Fiber yesterday) and eliminating dairy from my diet, I feel brand new. Not quite 100%, but closer to normal than I've been in a long time . . .
I started having horrible symptoms in February, after stopping a low-dosed tricyclic anti-depressant for chronic pain (chronic migraines). I'd been on it for 3 years, but my migraines have been well controlled for 2+ years now. My neurologist felt I could taper off. Headache-wise I felt great off of it. Tummy-wise . . . not so much.

My gastroenterologist felt that it had been masking many of the symptoms that I began to manifest earlier this year. She does not want to have to put me back on anything remotely close to those, but rather directly treat my symptoms' cause. I agree 100% Which is why I am here!

I tried a little cheese last week and quickly realized that it just isn't worth it. No matter how good it tastes!

I'd been on the highly recommended "healthy" diet and coudn't figure out why my body was "betraying" me. High Fiber, whole grains, lots of fresh (raw) veggies and a ton of fruit (5 to 7 servings of fresh produce daily) and three servings of lean dairy per day. All of a sudden, I gained 15+lbs, felt horrible, was in the restroom most mornings four to five times before noon. Pretty soon, I wasn't eating in the morning, if I had to leave the house.

Not exactly what I call living!
I'm hoping that as the summer rolls on, I will become adapted to my new way of eating and be a few lbs lighter! (I had worked VERY hard to take of 60+ lbs about 2 years ago & intend to take this weight and then some off!)

Thanks for listening. I look forward to learning and learning!

Welcome to the board!

And yes, you are right - sometimes cheating just isn't worth it!

Good luck and hugs!!

Thank you!!!
Yesterday, I did great! We went to a birthday party @ Chuck E Cheese w/ our six year old. I took the cheese off of the pizza (had a snack before leaving the house too!), had a small piece of cake and sipped on a non-carbonated soft drink. Felt great, had dinner, did well w/ that. Then snack while watching a movie. It wasn't what I ate, it was how much. Oriental Snack Mix . . . 1 1/2 c. NOT good. 1/2 c serving suits me fine . . . oh well, live and learn! At least I was home and NO diarrhea, just gass and bloating. Serves me right!
