In June of 2000, I had a Tummy Tuck due to loosing 170lbs in a year and a half. I had a lot of pain from this. Lots of infection. Most of my pain was on my left side and went lower under my belly buttun and straight across. I experienced a lot of muscle pain in that area.

Since then I have gained 80lbs back. I was diagnosed with IBS last June, and my life has been hell. Frequent trips to the restroom, and everyday I have severe abdominal pains, in the same area I had pains from my surgery.

Is it possibloe that now I may have side effects from the sugery and the added weight gain, is contributing to the severe spasms I get everyday?

Any information would be greatly appreciated

I don't think the connection is in your head. Sometimes we realize a connection between traumatic body events (which a post-surgery complication definitely qualifies as!) and the onset of IBS.

Did you take a lot of antibiotics for your infection? My IBS started after several harsh cycles of antibiotics I took after a nasty bout with pneumonia when I was 7. I have read in numerous places that antibiotics can trigger the onset of IBS. I am convinced this is what happened to me.
