As everyone probably already knows that zelnorm is now off the market. I was a fond user of that pill. Since it is no longer available to me I have tried so many fiber solutions that have all fallen short. I either go very little or I dont go at all. So I decided to go medicationless. And I have been having bm's every 3 days or so but every time that I do go I get these painful hemorrhoids. Im not straing or on the thrown very long I just dont understand why I get them? Ive tried hot baths, creams and ointments but it only helps temporarily. Do you have any other suggestions? Please any word of advice would be greatly appreciated.

I can so relate to your pain! One of my many surgeries was for my hemorrhoids. I struggled for many years not realizing I had IBS and not knowing that it was not normal to not be able to have a BM every day. I have had times when I have gone for as long as a week without one. It got so bad that I developed such bad hemmorhoids I had to have surgery. Even if you do not strain, constipation IBS makes your BMs so dry and pasty and large that they cause the problem.
I had learned that drinking lots of water helped with movement but did not soften them. Many of the laxatives available have whole wheat germ in them which just makes us worse and so does pysillium which is in many of them too! If you have not tried Heather's Acacia Fiber it is a God send for us. It takes a little while to completely end the problem but it does the trick. Before I found the acacia I was using Fiber Laxative caplets made from calcium polycarbophyl. They ensured a BM but did not always help with making them easily passable. After my surgery I did a Dr. Natura colon cleanse to make sure I did not have parasites and to get my system running better. I was amazed that I could easily go 3 times a day! The acacia is much better though because you can take it regularly and it does not have any of the ingredients that cause triggering like the other supplements do. You really need to be cleaning out your system every day to feel your best and to heal up those pesky (very painful) hemmorhoids.

I agree about Heather's Acacia fiber. It really is helpful to the C'ers. I have been on it for about 2 years now and it has helped me greatly. I have a BM everyday now. I still hemmoroids now and then but I have a persription for suppositories with hydrocorisone in them and it helps greatly. Make sure you are doing a couple of things 1) drink lots of water! 2) exercise! I have found this to be very helpful for me. Often if I am C I go and exercise and I will have a BM a couple of hours later, 3) make sure you get insoluble fiber in your diet. This is so important for C people. I don't if you can but I can eat salads with no problem and I do almost every other day. I eat it at the end of my meal or in the middle so that I have something in my tummy first. If you start the Acacia you will notice bloating and gas at first. It will seem like it's not working but for C'ers it takes a few weeks. I hope this helps and good luck!
