I went to the doc yesterday. He said I need to be on meds for life for my chronic sinusitis, rhinitus, and bronchitus. NO WAY! Uh uh! I refuse! I'm 25 years old...I'm too young for all this!

In the state I live in Naturopathy is not recognized. So I don't know what to do or where to go?!

My hubby is worried sick.

I've been on meds all my life (when I was 4 I was already on antibiotics for my chronic ear infections), and I want OFF! They make things worse...awful side effects, and the steroid nasal sprays and astma medicines cause rebound-effects. I've had it with traditional western medicine!

I know some of you go to naturopaths. What is your advice?

Right now I am resting, drinking water with a nasal solution in it from the health food store, using a nasal wash, taking in steam, fasting on a liquid (water) only fast for today only, taking baths, warm compresses on my face...I seem to be getting better! Any other advice? Oh, the liquid solution has echinacea and goldenseal...I'm also taking heaps of vitamin C and I start Spirulina this evening...plus Primal Defense Probiotics.

I got fired last night from one of my babysitting jobs. They had to find someone else because I'm sick all the time. I'm totaly cool with it...I think they made the right decision. They need a bod there when their son gets home from school...that's what I was hired to do....so I'm not upset. What gets me is that I'm so young and positive...there has to be a better way! I should be outside right now enjoying my life...but I'm stuck inside often because I'm not feeling well! Some days I can't even wash the dishes! Upper respiratory stuff is brutal and it zaps your energy!

Thanks for listening and for helping me through this! I know I'm strong...but having the support and love of all of you REALLY makes a difference!

Thanks again!

Love,
Ruchie

You've my sympathy Ruchie... I only wish I could help. I'm in the same kind of situation where I'm always ill and the doctors can't help. Good luck with the naturopathy and keep us updated. I'm probably going to try the alternative medicine route when I've got some time!!!

I'll def. let you know how things go, thanks! *hugs*

I can't live like this another minute! It's horrible! The symptoms, the fatigue (which you can understand), the aches and pains, the inability to function normally and do normal things...it's DEPRESSING (and I'm a happy gal!)

I'm staying strong though. I know this won't last forever. And I know I'm doing everything in my power to get better. I'm counting on G-d and my perseverence and collecting info. to get me to the end of the tunnel!

Please let me know what you find out....and if there's anything we can do to be supportive!

How long have you been on the probiotics? It's helping my friend out well she says she even has lost her sniffling nose from allergies. I've been debating on taking them myself. Can't decided on which brand to use.
Hugs to you too, I can always use those.

Ruchie, I completely understand your frustration! I'm also an asthmatic, and have struggled with that all of my life. Plus I have tendonitis, which has been pretty bad lately. This morning I woke up and my ankle was so stiff and sore I couldn't even put any weight on it. When you add the IBS on top of that, I feel more like an 80 year old woman than a 24 year old! I guess some of us just have problems like this to deal with, while others have different types of problems. At least that's what I try to remind myself when I'm feeling sorry for myself, which has been happening pretty frequently for the past year. Anyway, to make a long story short, you're not alone! I hope you do find something that works for you! Take care!

Ruchie,

I replied on the other board about avoiding antibiotics but I forgot to mention one conventional-medicine idea...my nurse-practitioner put me on Flonase (nasal antihistimine) to PREVENT future sinus infections by preventing the allergy-related fluid buildup that offers the bacteria a place to breed. If your illness is even possibly allergy-related, this might be worth considering because it's not an oral medication and it might prevent the need for antibiotics--does that make sense? If you'd rather explore more natural allergy treatment options, search www.drweil.com for ideas--I know he offers some but right now I'm going for what my insurance will cover .

This reminded me... I was on a decongestant (Sudafed) for the same reason.

Hi Ruchie, I am glad to hear that you are trying the natural way. It is definitely so much better for you. Obviously your DR doesn't want to deal with your illness, and that is why he made the comment that he did. I think that you should seriously consider emailing the guys that I talk to ( Len & Joe) They will give you free advice via email. You can try len@askrph3.com or joe@askrph3.com. They are so great and will definfitely help you get on the right track.

I hope you are well soon!

I've tried sdafed for years....doesn't help I think this is why I want to try natural things now...I've been on all the meds over the years...nothing doing! I feel so trapped. But I'm gonna find a solution...and I'm not giving up until I do!

Let me know if you find something that works for you and I'll do the same!

*hugs*

Ruchie, keep that great positive attitude of yours! That will help you more than you know. I'm doing Michael's IBS self-hypnosis program, and I'm learning about the importance of positive thinking. You're right; you're far too young to have to go through all this. It's SOOO unfair. But the way you handle it will and does determine character. I don't have answers for you, unfortunately, but I know a positive attitude will work in your favor. A very wise young lady just recently told me that, because of my positive attitude and lack of self-pity, I WILL get better. I think she's right! And so will you. Bev.
