I have to get my wisdom teeth out in a couple weeks, and just wondering if anyone else had gone through this. I thought that there might be problems with the medication, and the fact that you can't really eat/drink a lot of stuff. I know my dentist was saying to stock up on jello, but I don't know if it is safe.

I've had more teeth out than I care to admit, and I've had no problems from it at all.
You should be ok with jello. Any soft food is going to be best at first, but you'll want to stick with cold/cool ones for the first day or so. Pudding made with soy milk is good too, and a little more nutritious than jello. My dentist basically said to stick with oatmeal, mashed potatoes/sweet potatoes, soups that aren't too chunky, bananas, yogurt (soy).
I actually didn't get any pain medication at all with my latest extraction, and I was fine. But I didn't have problems with any medications in the past, and I've been on pretty much any painkiller a doctor can prescribe at one point or another. LOL

Stick with the recommended soft foods and follow any instructions you're given about rinsing the area to avoid infection or other issues. Also, I applaud hohoyumyum for not using pain killers, but I needed them when I had my wisdom teeth out. Plan on having someone on standby to fill the prescription--just in case.
Painkillers have never affected my IBS, but I have heard that they make some people C.

Follow ALL advice to the T! I ended up getting dry socket and it terribly painful.

I seem to have a ridiculously high tolerance to pain in my mouth. Last round at the dentist showed I had 7 or 8 cavities and I hardly felt a thing. Three root canals and only one of them left me feeling a bit sore.
It'd be nice if I could say the same about my gut. LOL.
