It seems to pop up everywhere. Serotonin and PMS/PMDD, serotonin and IBS, IBS and PMS. Goodness gracious. No wonder we end up with D and C.

Quote:

There is evidence that a brain chemical called serotonin plays a role in a severe form of PMS, called Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder (PMDD). The main symptoms, which can be disabling, include:

* feelings of sadness or despair, or possibly suicidal thoughts
* feelings of tension or anxiety
* panic attacks
* mood swings, crying
* lasting irritability or anger that affects other people
* disinterest in daily activities and relationships
* trouble thinking or focusing
* tiredness or low energy
* food cravings or binge eating
* having trouble sleeping
* feeling out of control
* physical symptoms, such as bloating, breast tenderness, headaches, and joint or muscle pain

You must have five or more of these symptoms to be diagnosed with PMDD. Symptoms occur during the week before your period and go away after bleeding starts.

Here's the link to where I found this.

Haha wow thanks for posting that. I must say, that is DEFINITELY me LOL. unfortunately... haha. Man this week has been so terrible for me, and I thought it was just lack of sleep, but now I have a real explanation. I've been like so irritable all week, crying for no reason, a couple days ago my whole body ached, I couldn't focus on anything, taking naps all day everydasy,,, yea pretty much the entire list... Wow. I need to get to the store and get some Calcium and vitamin D,, and fast!

Birth Control got rid of almost all of these symptoms for me. I think I remember you saying that BC isn't an option for you, though, for religious reasons. Maybe a doc could help treat the symptoms with some other method.

It is nice to know that there is a reason for the way we feel sometimes.
