I toasted in the New Year in bed. My mom got the flu last Friday, her boyfriend on Christmas day, my DH on Wednesday and I guess it was my turn. Blah. I don't wish this on anyone. From Saturday night at midnight I must have been up every 20 to 45 minutes until Sunday at 11 am. Mostly D, but I was sick to my stomache and not very happy about that! I am the worst person when I'm sick. I was bawling because I didn't want to be sick, but couldn't stop it. Even with gravol and immodium. Those didn't stay in my system long enough to dissolve. Yesterday I spent most of the day in bed, then sat up and watched tv / dozed on the couch. Then I slept for 13 hours straight without waking up even. A miracle for me. I'm used to waking up at least 4 times a night.
I pray that no one else gets this super flu that is going around, it's beyond nasty. And thank heavens I didn't have to work today! I'd have never made it! Tomorrow will be a challenge.
Best of the New Year to everyone.

It's going around here too. At work a girl I'm friends with got it, then her boss on friday was sick as a dog and then I managed to get it starting about 11:30pm new years age. Ended up being ill all day yesterday. I thought at first it was the red meat after all but Ben is really sick today now.. Thankfully it only lasts a couple days..

Thanks for all the well wishes, could you send a few more?
I'm at work, and I really really should not be. I called this morning that I would be late 1. because I couldn't get out of the bathroom and 2. because my truck was frosted on the inside and the outside and the door froze shut! It was a miserable way to start the day. I made it, only 15 minutes late. I was supposed to leave here as soon as I'm done payroll - usually an hour to two and wouldn't you know it - the online payroll server is taking 2 hours!!! to preview payroll. And each time you try to update it, it pushes you to the back of the que. OMG!! I have been trying to post payroll since 9:30 and it is now 1:45, and the server said 45 minutes to next upload when I just checked it. Somebody kill me now!! I feel like I have a hot lead brick in my tum and somebody has turned the heat on in my body for the first time in decades (I'm always cold). I wanna go home!! As soon as payroll goes, I'm leaving. I could care less if anyone is even here to answer the phone! (and as a sidenote - my asst. went to a dr's appt at 10:45 and hasn't returned and then had a 2nd appt. at 1:50 - so who knows when to expect her - as she is going for surgery tomorrow.)
Anyways, I feel terrible, but I'm surviving!

I went home early yesterday - just couldn't do it. Today I went straight to the walk-in after work. After an hour and a half I finally saw the dr. My biggest complaint is the lead weight under my sternum which burns when I have to breathe deeply or exert myself more than typing. Answering the phone winds me! The dr. was very thorough (what a nice change!) and checked my abdomin, lungs, heart, lymphs, glands, throat, temp, blood pressure, pulse and ran 2 ECG's! He has concluded I have severly strained my hiatle hernia - likely because I was sick to my stomache. He was quite concerned (and I'm not used to concern from drs here) and told me to get lots of rest, no heavy lifting and he prescribed Pantoloc for the next 15 days. Even if I don't have reflux from the HH he still suggested it to help calm it down. If the pain or difficulty breathing gets any worse I am to go back for a chest x-ray tomorrow (although my lungs are clear he said)
On a happy note, when I stopped at the pharmacy to pick-up the prescription, I got to use my drug card for the first time!! The DH's benefits took effect yesterday. I only had to pay $10 for the co-pay and the rest of the year I'm covered 100% on most drugs. (Sorry Michele - I wish I could transfer this to you!)
I'm off to bed, to relax, as lying down is the only way my chest doesn't feel like there is an alien on the inside trying to burst out!

Thanks Toady! Glad to hear you are starting to feel better, a nice dr makes a world of difference, doesn't it? My chest area hurts a lot from the RA, no bra and big, comfy sweatshirts are the best! I have tried heat but it makes the suffocation feeling worse!
