My mom is getting a lumpectomy in her other breast. She scheduled the surgery after thxgvg so she could enjoy the holidays. It's the same operation she had last August only the other side.
She's making jokes about having the other breast "lifted" so it'll match the nice job her surgeon did on the left side last year. She's making a lot of jokes. It's a little too soon for me.

oh Nelly, I'm so sorry to hear that.
I'll be thinking of you and your family and praying that everything turns out okay...
Also, I know the jokes are hard, but I assume that it's her way of dealing with this all. She's probably very scared and people react to fear in many different ways- some laugh, some cry, some throw things, some go into denial. The best thing you can do is to try to deal with her humor (and I know it will be hard). Good luck!

I'm sorry to hear that Nelly. I know someone who recently went through a very similar situation and she came out stronger than before. I'll pray that your mom's result is the same.

I'm so sorry, Nelly. It's terrible, you'd think I'd know exactly what to say right now, but I guess experience doesn't do a person much good for this kind of thing.
I hope her surgery goes smoothly and there's no more spreading after this!
*hugs*

Nelly, I'm very sorry to hear that. I agree with Spice about the joking because I typically do the same. It's just her way of dealing with it and trying to lighten it up for others...even if it's not really working out that way. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers. Big hugs.

I'm so very sorry. Hopefully, your mother's joking is evidence of a positive outlook, which will be a great help in getting her (and you) through this.

I'm so sorry, Nelly. I know this is difficult for you---and your mother. I'm sure she's just joking around to keep from breaking down in front of you. It's just her way of dealing with it. Maybe it hasn't hit her yet. I will keep you both in my prayers. My neighbor (and good friend) has breast cancer, and it is so hard watching what she is going through. I worry about her so much. And my son's girlfriend's mother was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and is undergoing chemo for it. It seems like everyone I know has the disease! It is scary!

I'm sorry to hear that your mom is having to go through this, again. And I know from experience that it's not easy for you to watch your mom go through it either! But take heart. My mom had breast cancer when I was 13. I'm 31 now & she's still w/me, 74 yrs old & doing well, except that she has Alzheimers, but as far as her general health, she's doing great! She's never had anymore problems w/any type of cancer. So there's always hope for you & your mom as well! And medical treatments for cancer are advancing all the time. Now if only they could find a cure for IBS!
