Ok, so I got my script for the injectable methotrexate. I'll start the shots Friday night so I've got the weekend to see how sick I will be! We are changing around my nighttime drugs a bit but it will take a while. I got a script for extra folic acid on top of the pre-natals vits to help with the side effects from the mtx. Got more vicodin and a script for water therapy.

I got a splint for my right hand as she says my ulnar nerve is compressed from the swelling, thus the numbness. I complained my jaw popped on Saturday and has been hurting like heck ever since. She sent me right over to the oral surgeon who did an x-ray and said my jaw is dislocated. Nice. Apparently my tmj has gotten way worse. My jaw pop out of place and now the cartilage that cushions it is so swollen that it won't let them pop it back in. Liquid diet and more steroids. I'm to give it 7-10 days and if it doesn't reduce by than, they will send me to yet another specialist. I'm in so much pain from the guy trying to get it back in that I could just cry. Two vicodins haven't touched the pain.

The rheumy said the mtx should really help but may take a month or so to see the effects and I'm to stay on the steroids until than. The oral surgeon guy said to take even more steroids. I asked him if he had ever been on high dose steroids and he admitted no. I told him high dose steroids and liquid diet do not go together as the steroids make you eat everything in site!!! He said he could wire my jaw shut if I needed the help to keep it closed! Aw, no thanks!

I see the rheumy in a month and she will raise the mtx dose and hopefully at that point I can lower the steroids. My blood pressure is up from the steroids and my bones are thinning at an alarming rate. She doesn't want to start me on fosamax or boneva or those type of drugs because of the gi upset and because we are making so many changes as it is. She said there should be an injection out very soon thats given twice a year to help with the bone loss so we will discuss that in the next visit or two.

I think I'm going to wait a week or two before starting the pool therapy as I'm in so much pain from my jaw and the flare and I don't know how sick I'm going to get from the mtx. Ok, thats all the typing I can handle, even with the brace, my hands are screaming!!

Ouch, ouch and double ouch. It is like the domino effect. A dislocated jaw? I think they should give you iv morphine or something. Actually my sister once had oxycontin for intractable pain and found it wonderful.

Good idea to hold off on the pool therapy until the meds kick in a bit. thinking of you and wishing you well.

Thanks, I do have a few percocet as well as the vicodin but I have to make it through the rest of the work day before I totally drug myself out!!!

I can't believe it either, I knew it was messed up when it wouldn't pop back in but this is ridiculous. I wish I had a scanner to scan the x-ray, its very obvious. I can't believe they can't just pop it back in or something????? He said its just too swollen right now Its one way to lose weight i guess!

Wow, you just can't get a break!! Geez Michele!! As my DH would say - let's just take you out back and shoot you! (And then he gives me a hug or kiss)

Ouch!! Dislocated jaw!! I can't even imagine! I had a hard enough time with getting my wisdom teeth out.

I think the water therapy is an awesome idea! I have done a lot of aquabic rehab and just regular aquabics. It has always been great for me.

I hope you've got some good liquid recipes!!! You're going to wither away to nothing soon - despite the steriods!

Take care!!
