I have my colonoscopy and endoscopy tomorrow morning at the same time. I have never had either procedure done. I had to drink Fleet Phosphosoda and WOW is that stuff ever nasty!!!! It was very hard to get down. This isn't the most pleasant experience of my life but at this point I am willing to do anything for answers!! It has only been 3.5 hours since I drank it and my bum is very raw and sore (sorry if tmi for some). I have to drink Citro-Mag at 12 midnight again so I am afraid of not getting any sleep tonight. The procedures are at 8am in a city about 25 mins away. I read up on as many threads as I could beforehand, and the sticky post on the Crohn's/colitis board was very helpful. Wish me luck!!

Good luck! I hope you stocked up on the baby wipes and diaper cream for the sore bum!

Yuck, it really isn't nice to go through, all the horrible prep.

Well, good luck with the tests and the journey there (I was so paranoid about the journey on the way to mine, I had that at the same time too, but made it ok - I guess you do what you have to do ), I'll be thinking about you & wishing you the best.

And well done you, big time, for having both at the same time - very brave! (Whilst I did it, I insisted on general anaesthetic, so I've the very opposite of brave I guess! )

Thanks so much for the well wishes! I am also glad to hear that you made the drive okay. I wasn't really given a choice about both at the same time, the Dr kinda just said this is what we are doing. I will be put out completely because of the fact that I am having both.

I bought baby wipes and they are alcohol free so they wouldn't sting but I still can't use them. They still sting too much Going to try some cream and see how that goes

Yup, my doc was like that too - I only got a choice about the general anaesthetic cause I was lucky enough to have private health insurance through my dad's job, if it had been on the NHS they would probably just have given me a brandy!

I actually think the prep is by far the worst of it, based on what people who didn't have the GA have said - and the seddation they use usually affects your memory too, so you forgot what actually happened! Apparently the best bit is that you get to watch it on a screen - so if you can remember afterwards you realise you've seen you're insides, which must be kinda cool...

That stinks, I've never had baby wipes that stung before and I always buy the cheap ones in bulk at costco because I have D so much I use them all the time. Hopefully the cream helped you and hopefully by time you read this, it'll all be over! Let us know your ok!

Congrats on getting these important tests done. They are so important in ruling out other diseases, and so many people shy away from them. Kudos to you for being so proactive about your health!

{{{{BIG HUGS}}}} for getting over the prep as soon as possible after the test! I've been there too and I know how you feel. Very smart of you to get these 2 tests over with at the same time (I hadn't thot of that...!)!

Well it is all done and over with. At some points I didn't think I would make it but I did. Downing the Citro-mag was one of the hardest things I have ever done. The ride there was very uncomfortable but I made it with no stops. The only part of the endoscopy I remember is when they froze my throat (not very pleasant). I don't have any memory of anything else but waking up in the middle of the colonoscopy in excruciating pain. Next thing I knew I was in recovery and had been sleeping for a little over an hour. Morphine is a wonderful thing I tell ya!
My results were severe IBS-A with pain. The endoscopy showed worse results than the colonoscopy. I have really bad inflammation in my stomach and esophagus, with a little bleeding. I was prescribed Pariet to treat the stomach problem asap and was given a renewal for Buscopan for my IBS. I have a follow-up appointment in October.
Thank you everyone for your support! I have been on the boards for over a year now. I read the boards everyday but haven't posted much or gotten too involved. I guess I was waiting for a confirmed diagnosis. I have been following the diet the whole time but I am going to look into hypno and acacia now. I feel like I know most of you, but you don't know me! So I will try and hang out more often in the future.

We all have the IBS in common, but even if we didn't I think we all understand the pain and frustration. It sucks, but at least there's a place to go where we can all be understood!

Good for you, persuing that diagnosis. It takes a lot of strength to put fear aside and get those tests. Please, post away! And a welcome to the "club."
