You will FOREVER remember your anniversary day. It was a very important day in your life at one time. My friend said to me the other day that it was her wedding anniversary and she's been divorced over 10 years now! I said, "but wait, you don't have an anniversary anymore"! Then I thought about it and told her the same thing, you probably will never forget that day. It's OK to be sad about it. Cry if you have to.....you'll have another special day that will take the place of remembering your "other" anniversary. Don't worry!!!

it should be a good day. You have recognized that Trevor was bad for you. It's the beginning of a better life for you. It gets easier. The first few times you make it through the anniversary, it'll be uneasy but it DOES get easier as your life gets better.
Trust me on that one!! Sending big hugs your way.

Cough that hairball outta your throat and do something special. I understand you hurt, but please do something positive today. Take K out or better yet do something by yourself. Get a pedicure or something frivilous.

I went out for dinner with ex's brother(who just came out of the closet) and our friend. Ex's ex best friend runs the restaurant we were at and bought me dinner. he loves me to bits still but not so much the ex, LOL... Then, I came home...and before I went out for dinner, I had called Jason to see if he had plans. He called me and came over. it was nice. That's all I will say about that.....

Hi Shannon,
Glad to hear that your "universary" turned out better than expected. Just another sign of new beginnings
How's your classroom coming? I go into the school tomorrow to pick up my official schedule (I'll be teaching Grade 8 Eng, and Grade 3 Math). The Principal & VP told me that I would also be able to teach 2-3 afternoons a week for supply teaching (at the school in addition to my permanent AM classes so I'm excited! I've also picked up some tutoring so I think this is going to be quite a busy year!
Hope the rest of your weekend went well. Jenn

My classroom? Well, I'm sharing with some dude I haven't met yet, and I think I will go in today to continue tidying up. Our class was a DISASTER.
i have not planned ANYTHING yet because i'm so bloody overwhelmed! I know what I'll do with my first week so that's good, but my greade 5 English, ha ha, NO CLUE.
You are going to be super busy. i started out last year tutoring French, and subbing. Luckily the tutoring job didn't last long but whoa, it was intense, bec. I got my classroom Sept. 22 last year so I didn't even KNOW I'd be teaching special ed full time for three months, lol!
And to think, some people are stil getting HIRED. Yikes. We got the edge.
I love that your assignment is Grade three and grade eight. Talk about flexible, honey. WHOA!! At least I ahve all grade 4-5-6!! We call grade 4-5-6 here Division 2, and k-1-2-3 is Div. 1. Div. 3 is 7-8-9 (junior high) and Div.4 is 10-11-12. I stay away from THOSE ones! LOL!
I'm a huge fan of Div 2. They are learning to listen but still think teachers are pretty cool. I get love notes on a daily basis from these guys.

Hi Shannon,
Ya, Grade 3 and Grade 8 is certainly an interesting mix. It's a prep coverage position so that's how it happened. Here the divisions are divided into Primary (k-3), Junior (4-6), Intermediate (7-10) and Senior (11-12). Usually teachers get a degree in P/J (they teach k-6), J/I (they can teach gr.4-10; this is what I have and I'm certified to teach) and I/S (they can teach grade 7-12, however most of these teachers choose to teach highschool as they're required to have 2 teachables).
I think I might take my Primary Basic Additional qualification so I can be certified to teach k-3. I'm going to wait until the winter though b/c I don't have the money for that right now plus I think I'll have more to contribute once I've had the Gr.3s for a few months.
Enjoy decorating your class Jenn

I'm getting nervous now about having French again. I only teach level 1 every other year or so. Now, I'll be teaching level 1 and Spanish 1 and 2. I'll have mostly 10th and 11th graders for the beginning of the year.
My big prob now is dividing up the classroom with posters in Spanish and French! I don't keep any of the French stuff around b/c I never know when/if I'll teach it again. Wish me luck. I'm excited for you though!

and the kids come back Wednesday. Man, I have done NO planning!
I'm kind of excited to go back, though I'm trying to come up with strategies to avoid getting as stressed as the past couple of years. Wish me luck!
I hope all the other teachers have a great year!

Looks like I'm late in replying by a couple of days. I know you're going through a tough time, but I think it's time for you to be a little selfish and pamper yourself. You deserve it after all you're been through.

don't even get a French classroom! I get a freaking CART! LOL!
can't exactly put up posters on a CART can we?
I still don't know my timetable, so looking forward to that on Thursday. My classroom that I will teach L.A. in though, is looking like it's sort of mine now. The guy I'm sharing with has crap EVERYWHERE. Yuk.

the qualifications and how they differ. We get a five year undergrad degree in ECS(k) Elementary generalist (1-6) or secondary (7-9 or 10-12) with a minor in whichever subject. Of course, we elem eddies have to be good at everything,LOL!
My degree is elem generalist(I can teach ANYTHING in the elem level including music)with a minor in special education..that means identifying, assessing, modifying and etc the curriculum for kids with "differences"-the new buzzword.
I'm doing my New teacher Orientation tomorrow. Yay me. My student teacher and I are doing it together, LOL-I was in a sped class for a month last year and got to send off my colleague's student teacher. She's only 7 years younger than me and is going to be teaching in the same town as me, about five mins away. We'll rock the house.

Hi MaryV,
Thanks for all of your good wishes. I have ulcerative colitis and this will be my first year teaching. I did fine in my practicum after the first few weeks once my body got used to the school's schedule.

I took the weekend off from being online and missed your post until this morning. Anniversaries are a double edged sword. You can't put them out of your mind, no matter how many years pass. I think it is completely normal to feel sadness. Chin up girl, we're all here for you.
BTW- I thought you were moving on from Jason?! Did I miss something? Is he having a hard time moving on from you?!

Or trust the turkeys enough to RUN, not walk, to the potty. And you always have a friend watching. Mind you, last year, my IBS settled a bit, but regardless, i had TA's so there was always someone WITH the kids. It'll be fun this year.

I haven't seen him since friday, but we said we'd get together soon. I think we went too fast and so now there's just no pressure. i've never had a grown up relationship. When Trevor and I married I was still emotionally a teenager. I guess I'm emotionally adult now but still a little scrambled.

I think it's justified that you feel a little scrambled. Maybe you and Jason will be better off without any pressures, commitments, or preconceived ideas. Go with the flow- it will lead you where you need to be!
