Yes, it appears that I have a staph infection. I have two abscesses: a small one on my leg but a huge one on my...butt. Yep. It burst yesterday, but luckily I had a Dr. appt. that afternoon. In fact, it burst something like 20 minutes before the appointment so I lucked out.

Now, unfortunately, I have to keep a bandage on the open abscess and change it every time I have a BM. Which is often. Augh.

Plus, I'm headed back to school on Sunday but I need to keep this dressing on for 2 weeks so I'm concerned about how I'm going to change it while I'm doing school stuff. Bleah.

And that's about it.

Thanks for keeping in touch!! Open wounds are never fun, but after all you've been through it sucks that now you have this on your plate too. {{{{HUGS}}}} I hope they are not too painful (or itchy!) and that you have a large supply of bandages!

Dr. Nelly is prescribing lots of bad summer TV and a cool dark room for you to lie in. May your tummy be soothed and your pillows always soft--

Hehe, that sounds really good, but I really can't do that in school. I'm working at orientation for a week and a half so lots of stuff to do. Right now I'm working on seeing how fast I can change the bandage. You know how hard it is to try and put tape on your butt in JUST the right place?

Oh, and the stomach incisions are doing well; all the bandages are off and I can lie on my stomach without too much pain!

That's really good to hear about the incision sites! Best of luck to you in school, and I hope that the enthusiasm of the first week carries over until December for you.

BTW, does it hurt to strain over the pot after the surgery? I know there's such a delicate balence between "going for it" and respecting the stitches...

Darn hospital! I'm sure that's where you picked up that staph infection. They are known places to catch that!! I'd
be pissed. Hope you feel better soon! Being in college would be rather tough. It will all work out! Good luck.
