I had a really bad day yday. Came home crying and really in a bad way. My BF had to put me down to sleep with some migraine medicine. It was really bad.

I'm feeling really overwhelmed and pulled in every direction.

I'm with you, Nelly dear. Between working fulltime with the kiddies at camp and moving, I'm shot. Forced my boss into giving me today off so I didn't have to take the kids to Dorney Park (an amusement park) and could sleep in for once and spend the day packing.

*HUGS* hope you feel better soon!

Hi Mel! Thanks so much for the hugs. I really need them today. I'm glad you have the day off! I'd hate to be at an amusement park...

I really feel bad, all achey and gross.

I hope you're feeling better. Just think about how nice the couch or your bed will feel once you do get home! Summer sickness is the worst.

Oh sweetie, I totally understand! It sucks to be sick and it sucks even more to have to go to work when you are sick. Super duper big hugs and lots of love! Call me if you want a girlfriend to vent/talk to!!

Hope you're feeling better by now. My latest mantra is "this isn't permanent, I will feel better soon." Helps sometimes. (I've been home for the past 4 days with a back that doesn't want me to be upright, so I've been reminding myself of this a lot) We're a bit closer to the weekend - I hope you can find some time to unwind and do something fun when you're feeling better.

Last night I felt like I had to re-learn everything about IBS. I was in so much pain, just lying there and thinking about the real meaning of the words, I feel like a prisoner in my own body. I also composed a short poem and turned it over and over in my head while I writhed--

To my boss:

I don't know
if you realize
what I go through
to make it to work
on time
every day.

I've made it to work, but I feel really bad still!! I hate IBS. I really appreciate you guys, cause I know you get what I'm talking about. Arg. Stoopid body!

Today is bad, but different.

Feeling for you sweetie! Boss's will never understand, no one can until you've been through it! I've started leaving a change of panties and a pair of pants in my car at all times.

Yes I can totally understand. I've worked full time since I was 19! Some weeks I just want to stay in bed and not go to work but I make myself. Don't let IBS take control of you!!!! Keep saying that over and over!!!!!
Hope you are feeling better today sweetie!!!!!!-

OK, I feel better. After going through hell for 3 days, I can now leave my bed. I don't have any hunger whatsoever and am thoroughly disallusioned by doctors AGAIN.

I went to the emergency care clinic on Friday morning to get an IV. Me veins were shot to h*ll and I hadn't eaten or drank in 40 hours. I *tried* to drink, but I almost threw it up. So an IV is what I went out for.

They ask you what you're there for-- "DEHYDRATED and IBS-D. Need an IV," I put.

An hour later I'm 80 dollars lighter and no IV.

She said they didn't do IVs (WHICH THEY COULD HAVE TOLD ME AT RECEPTION) and just wanted to give me a prescription for Levsin, even though I listed I took Donatal (Hyoscyamine plus phenobarbatol) plus I had a Hyoscyamine oral spray (IB-Stat). (?!) She also told me that Levsin did the same thing as loperamide (Imodium) which I KNOW IS FALSE.

Stoopid emergency clinic doctor. Two slaps to the mouth.

So I broke out crying, paid and left. Got worse over the weekend, then better Monday. I need one of those cool private European doctors who come to your bedside. Anyone know where I can get one?

Thank you to everyone for your insightful, kind remarks. I really appreciated every one of them.

I understand completely. Though luckily it's been ages since it was bad enough for me to feel that way. And I hope I'll never have to feel that way again. I'm struggling to get back to work - am on 50 % sick leave and working from home most of the time but want to get back to work.

As for doctors who don't know what they're talking about and who act like complete idiots and who gladly take your money only to do absolutely nothing for you - I've been there too. I haven't even got to see a GI specialist yet (with the exception of the one who did the colonoscopy and he only did the test and then left me before I could ask him anything) and all they say is that they just don't have resources for IBS patients. Well they haven't done anything to educate the GPs either so I'm trying the best I can to educate mine myself which isn't easy.

Try to hang in there! I really hope you'll feel better soon.

I'm so sorry you had such a bad time Nelly, how are you feeling today?

It's SO frustrating when doctors act like that - particularly when (a) you know what you need, and (b) they're making you pay for the privelege! You must be seething.

Sending lots of hugs, and really hope you're doing better. And the grass isn't always greener so don't let it make you feel worse - doctors that come to your bedside over here aren't always that great - they might come out to your house, but they can still be utterly useless. In fact, more often than not...

Anyway, most importantly, hope you're doing even a little better. Hang in there!

I would have been furious. I've been in that exact state you described- actually about 1.5 years ago after a stomach virus I ended up in the ER feeling like hell and in need of fluids more than anything else. Even had to go in an ambulance bc my wife was 8months pregnant and couldn't help me get there. You feel so helpless when you get dehydrated to a certain point. And then to have them turn you away while handing you the bill and crappy advice? Grr..
Well, IBS sucks - but I love the poem it motivated you to write! Just think 30 or so more poems and you could publish the first known book of gastro-intestinal inspired verse! ha
anyway hope you're doing better

There are still docs in wyoming who make house calls. But I really don't know what they know about ibs. Well, ya I do ... they know more about horses, but they'll still come out to the house!

I don't care much for the em room people ... I think all the airheads in the medical field must drift out to our local em room.

Hope that you are feeling better.
