I used to dance from the age of 9 til I was 20. I LOVED to dance. I danced every chance I got. I have no fear of an audience. But ever since my horrible episode form my tummy and beign diagnosed with IBS-C I have not danced (I am now 27) Its been a while and I long to dance except for fear that I will upset my tummy. Is it safe. What do some of you C-ers do tho keep it moving normally as possible without going overboard?

Hi there,
Well, although I am an IBS-D from what I understand about IBS-c is that the more exercise you do, the better for you... so if anything, dancing may actually *help* your IBS. Exercise is strongly recommended by a lot of medical professionals for people with constipation to get their bowels moving better. Yoga and the like are also recommended so if you can incorporate this into your dancing, even better. If you are worried about it, you can always take it slow and see how it goes. I know that for some people with IBS-D cardio exercise can be hard sometimes 'cause it seems to sometimes bring on D in those sensitive but I've not heard of it being a similar problem for C'ers. So I say.. Dance away! ![](/messageboards/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif)
Good luck, let us know how it goes!
Steph
