I tried to reach my mom all day Wednesday, but she never called back. Thursday I went to the house looking for her, but no mom. I called my brother that night and left a voice message, apologizing for the drama, but I really needed to talk to her.
My brother text-messaged me this morning on my cell: "moms fine, call here at xxx-xxxx" I dial the number and it's the HOSPITAL!! She'd been in the hospital for 3 days and he knew and didn't tell me!!!
Her back went out at home and she called an ambulance. They zonked her out right away because she was screeming. Now she needs surgery because she can't put any pressure on her legs.
(She's had a broken back since 1976, and I remember large stretches thru my childhood where she was bedridden.)
Well my brother's packed his stuff in boxes in her house (think one of those shut-in mazes where you can't even turn around), because his wife left him last month and he had to sell this house. He has a nice little apartment, and my mom gets saddled with his mess in her gorgeous house. Nice.
Oooo, I am so mad. My mom will be in the hospital for a couple more days, then they're trying to move her to a hospice (seeing as she can't get around in her own house).
I've been spending my time since I heard sheparding stuff to her in her hospital room to make her more comfortable (flowers from her garden, socks, hand lotion). She's doped up on morphine so I really can't talk coherently to her. How awful for her. I am a mess.
Sorry just had to vent between contemplating fratricide and figuring out what to do. Day from hell.

So sory to hear this. Hopefully she will come out of it better than she was. As for brothers ... they don't get it. Mine doesn't that's for sure. They live in their own insular world.

Can it get any worse for you, darling? I think you've hit bottom here. Let's hope things start to get better. I hope your Mom feels better soon. Gentle hugs, A.

Why is it bad stuff just seems to keep coming at certain periods in life?! Your poor mum too, that's a horrible thing to happen, and to have lived with for so long.
Nothing I can do other than offer you my thoughts and concern, but know we're all willing your mum better and hoping you get a break some time soon.
((big hugs!))
