Good news always seems to have to be followed with a problem

Well, I just received a phone call from the University Library and they want to meet with me on Tuesday for an interview I was very excited because I'm really hoping for that job...but also a little nervous because I happen to have another interview scheduled that same day. The library one is at 10:15AM and my second interview is at 2:00PM ... but it's in Mississauga which is a 2 hour drive from where I live. So I'm not sure if I'm going to have enough time. That situation isn't too bad as I'm sure I could schedule a later time with the agency...but then the problems start.

Before I agreed to the Mississauga interview I asked my Dad if he would be willing to drive me. He grew up in the Greater Toronto Area so is really familiar with the area and also knows that I'm not supposed to be driving alone (especially on the highways) because of the medication I'm taking. He agreed which made me really happy.

Then I get an email from him telling me that he wants me to drive 1 hour up to where he lives (north of where I live) to meet him and THEN he'll drive me to Mississauga. What good is that? He KNEW I was asking him to drive me because of the stress of driving and the fact that I can't drive alone, yet wants me to drive alone to meet him. I called him hoping he would understand that with the library interview happening first I will already likely be extra tired and cannot safely make the drive up north to where he lives alone, and he didn't care. He said I couldn't expect him to do all the driving. I told him I've almost fallen asleep at the wheel a few times in the busy city (seriously - I almost hit a pedestrian) and that I wasn't going to drive on a nearly deserted highway alone for an hour because I thought there was too big of a risk of my falling asleep. So now he won't take me.

I don't know what to do. Scott works the overnight shift right now so to ask him to come with me would be asking a lot of him...not to mention he'd be so tired I don't know if it would even be possible.

So I feel totally screwed. My Dad should have mentioned this BEFORE I agreed to the interview...and I definately want this interview because it's for a major London company...it's just that they use a Mississauga placement agency for initial screening.

Ugh, am so disappointed right now and don't know what to do.

I agree with the good news-bad news thing. Maybe you'll get the library job and won't have to bother with the other. I'll cross my fingers.
