Hey Guys,
I just wanted to share with all of you that I got a job! Just goes to show that the hotel just wasn't meant to be, this pays much better and is in a safer environment.
I'm really nervous but also excited - I haven't worked in a year and this is full-time hours starting early (between 8-9AM depending on your shift) where my body is used to getting up no earlier than noon. So that'll take some adjustment.
I'm working for a major medical manufacturing company (they make hospital beds, wheelchairs, respirators etc), I'm not 100% what the job entails but it's a multi-tasking kind of job. Basically I liase with sales associates from all over North America and ensure the orders get processed. Sometimes that's all done over the computer, sometimes via email, telephone, regular snail mail. I'll have to go into the factory sometimes and deal with issues there...but I get my own desk(!) and my own "accounts" to deal with which is pretty exciting after 3 1/2 years of working in a call centre.
So, I start tomorrow (they didn't give me much notice) so please everyone think happy thoughts for me! I haven't had a chance to try and reintroduce caffeine and I'm certainly not going to try my first day at work just in case, so I'll have to make it these next 3 days without any help...so good thoughts would be appreciated.

Sorry I didn't update sooner and sorry I haven't replied to other posts...I was so wiped after tomorrow and had a bunch of stuff I had to do at home that I just had time to do it and go to bed
Well, it's interesting. It's definately going to be challenging which I think is a good thing because I tend to do better in a challenging environment. I still can't get to bed early (GRRR) so I'm dog-tired having to be all the way across town for 9:00AM, but there are some really nice people who keep me going throughout the day.
The company is called Invacare and is American so maybe some of you have heard of it. It's a lot of different stuff, you have to know how to use about 10 different computer systems and have so much product knowledge and procedure codes it's scary.
I'm a little intimidated but I'm trying to remember back to when I started working for the bank, and I'm pretty sure I was intimidated and scared then too - and I caught on really quickly. So hopefully I'll learn fast and then it won't seem so hard.
I'm still so stocked that I have my own cubicle that I'm allowed to decorate, and you can even have a little radio/CD player if you'd like (although I doubt they'd be ok with my playing RENT )...that's pretty cool.
Anyways, I better jet, they sent me home with the biggest binder I have ever seen that is apparently supposed to give me an "overview" of one of the computer systems. It's called Oracle so if anyone has ever used it and has any tips I'd love to know. It doesn't seem very hard but I've only done some very basic stuff so far.

Hi there, Yes I have heard of Invacare. It's located just outside Cleveland, not far from me (not sure if there is more then one location). I have a friend that works as an accountant there. Great company that makes wheelchairs/adaptive equipment. Good luck I hope you enjoy it and can get yourself adjusted to the busy schedule.
