Think they're more of a British thing actually... It's just the bride-to-be going out for a night out or spa visit or something with all her friends - sort of her last night out as a single! (Traditionally with the 'L plates' hanging on her person, like the ones you have on your car when you're learning to drive!) Same as a stag do that a groom-to-be would have. I think there is a US version of the name, but can't think of it at the moment... I thought it was a pretty cool idea - really hope others agree!!
