It went super well. Tommy gave me great directions so I got there safe and sound but most importantly ON TIME...15 mins early even!!! That's a must for interviews so wihtout his help I might have been late as I always under-etimate how long it will take to get around the city.
The job is a design consultant position with a HUGE company. The interview was a pre-selection interview doen by only one person who was super nice. They want to narrow down the candidates and then they'll be a 2nd interview in Manhattan at the office the job's at.
She LOVED my portfolio. She showed me some pieces that they've produced and they are very similar to my style so I think that's EXCELLENT. She also told me that I'm super enthusiastic and positive which she said they were looking for.
They'll interviwing lots of people and I'm not surprised because what they're paying is HIGHER than any other company for this position.
Wish me luck that I make it to a second interview!!!
p.s. New shoes kill. Cute shoes=pain! And CVS nylons are NOT keepers! Mine got a run as soon as it put them on (but it was in the upper thigh and I used clear nail polish to stop it). Phew!!!
A very happy Tina!!! I REALLY want this job!!!

YAY YOU!! See, told you everything would go perfect!
Any ideas when you'll hear whether you've made 2nd interview or not? Everything crossed...
I so want to know everything you do, I love design!! You mention 'your style' - what is your style? Do you have any samples of what you've done I could see? Nosy I know, but not only do I find it super interesting but you're great too - so it's a fab combo!
Even though I didn't work in design there were a few things I commissioned from our graphics department in one of my jobs that I was involved with right the way through, and I'm so proud of them. You must get great satisfaction when you finish a job.
PS - interview tip: ALWAYS have a spare pair of tights and some gel blister plasters in your bag!

Boy was I nervous!! When I got to the fairy there was a line up and the boat just arrived. So I walked in and they asked for my ticket. I had to run all the way to the ticket office and get one. As I came back the boat was still there. The guy said he wouldn't have let it go without me. YAY!!!! I would have been late if I had missed it as they only arrive every 20 mins.
I want to do an online portfolio of my work but I can't as I don't have any of the electronic files here. I did burn them on a cd but it's at my parents. I can send you my resume to look at? It's not your typical resume as it's full colour and a bit flashy. What's your email?
I love seeing the end product. Oh ya!! I once worked for an entertainment newspaper back when they pasted all the ads in manually. I would sit there for 8 hours basically fitting the ads in where they'd fit like a puzzle. Then the next morning I'd pick up a printed copy and loved seeing my name in the credits.
Will do- spare nylons for sure!!!

Awww that sounds great Tina! I've got my fingers crossed for ya! I can't imagine driving around NY City. THAT alone would make my IBS go wacky! I'm sure you'll get used to it though. The city can be exciting and stressful at the same time! Will be thinking of ya!!!!

and that you are the perfect person for it!
Way to go Tommy for the great directions! Always wonderful to have someone know the best way to get there.
Tina...I know this sounds silly but I have had a great success with sticking a new pair of cheap nylons in the freezer overnight. Be sure to thaw them before putting them on. They seem to last through a few wearing. I have no idea why it works but since I learned the trick from a friend I have stuck with it.
But cute shoes also give us confidence I will keep my fingers crossed for you!

Thanks Michelle!!!
I am willing to try the nylon/freezer thing. It's so wonky that it could work! ha ha
Cute shoes are definitely sexy! I told Tommy that I;ve never gotten SO MANY looks from men. I think a woman in a suit is a turn on to some men. Eeekk...

I'll have to remember that the next time I wear a suit to work to make sure to match it up with cute shoes. Might give my fiance some incentive to pay attention since we work at the same hospital. Course I am sure there are a few that I won't want looking!
Not sure why its always the wonky crazy ideas that work but I wonder who comes up with them and then is willing to admit being the first. I am guessing is that the nylons in the freezer was a distracted woman/mother who was putting groceries away and grabbed the nylons with the frozen food and thought nothing of it. I find the phone in the fridge sometimes...oops
Have a great weekend!
