I emailed this poem to a friend the other day, but thought you all might like it. There's lots of good friends and good thoughts going on here. You are good people.

THE FRIEND WHO JUST STANDS BY
Written by - B. Y. Williams

When trouble comes your soul to try
You love the friend who just "stands by".
Perhaps there's nothing that he can do -
The thing is strictly up to you;
For there are troubles all your own,
And paths the soul must tread alone;
Times when love cannot smooth the road
Nor friendship lift the heavy load,
But just to know you have a friend
Who will "stand by" until the end,
Whose sympathy through all endures,
Whose warm handclasp is always yours -
It helps, someway, to pull you through,
Although there's nothing that he can do.
And so with fervent heart you cry'
"God bless the friend who just 'stands by'!"

Beautiful. Actually made me shed a tear as we've had some potentially tragic family news over the past couple of days, and it's been just so frustrating that there's nothing we can do. We feel so useless - but this has put very eloquently that that's okay, we'll be there to the end and that's the best we can do.

Sorry, feeling very emotional today!!

we'll just stand by. But let us know if we can do anything. You are in our prayers.
