Luke had his horse show at his therapeutic riding ranch. All the grandparents came and I was pretty stressed for a number of reasons I won't even go into.., but my main prayer was answered a million times over, Luke felt GOOD today and was so HAPPY and for the first time EVER willingly "performed" for a group. I've never seen him sing a little song on a stage, never seen him do a little Christmas pageant, nothing even close, he just flat out cannot take it and refuses. I mean obviously it is an autism/aspie thing and I accept that but as a mom I've still always longed for him to feel that pride of sharing what he can do with others.
He did PERFECTLY and he must have said 100 times, "I did great today Mommy". He wore that blue ribbon with his chest puffed out and strutted around like a proud little rooster showing it off... it's just been wonderful. OH, and before he rode, the announcer let him use the mike to call his horse, he said so cute, "Come on down, Pepe!!"
Not only that but there are over 100 children serviced there of various exceptionalities/challenges, and these children... I cannot even begin to tell you how beautiful and wonderful they are. I could go on and on... it was a wonderful experience. The woman who started this ranch did so because she loves horses and had a son with cerebral palsy... she named the ranch "Wings of Eagles" after Isaiah 40:31. Now it has turned into a huge ministry offering a wonderful service to families free of charge.
Well, here's the pics ...

What great pics! I've worked with children with a number of different disabilities and developmental delays, autism among them, and I know how difficult things can be for them that seem so easy to others. How proud you must be. What a wonderful day for all of you!
