I've got to stuff myself into a business suit today for an interview at 10:30. It's at a law firm, for a 6 to 8 week contract. It'd be perfect if I got it, because I go on vacation with BF and his dad on May 24th.
I went on interviews for it yesterday and the day before too, so today's the last one (hopefully). I got up early and realized if I did get it, it'd be office hours and I'd have to be in by 8am. Am I up to this?
The fibro treatment has brought my pain under control, if I take my medication. If I don't take my meds, all the apain comes back, and lays me up for a couple days. If I get this I can't afford to skip meds, or heaven forbid, run out early! Freaking out a little. Plus I haven't seen the office bathrooms yet...
Wish me luck and strength, please!

Best of luck, of course you are up to it- and with such a short contract adrenalin will get you through it!
Let us know how you get on

Thanks so much for the well wishes!!
OK, that was uh, interesting!! Never been on an interview where I was asked to identify due North before. (???) I got it right tho. Guess he didn't know I was a local!
So it was different. It's a law firm looking for a contract negotiator for their law events. Looks like a pretty young office tho, with some few notible exceptions. He said I was overqualified so he had his doubts, but they'd let me know later today when they'd finished reviewing candidates. I'm not waiting with bated breath or anything.
OK, just changed back into jeans (whew! hate that black suit!) and it's time to do some shopping for BF's bday present. I'll post back as soon as I hear from them!

I love your attitude, Nelly! I hope you get the contract. So...any ideas for BF's present?
I'm feverish with spring and going to go uptown and walk around and shop for nothing in particular and hopefully come home with something. Oh...note to self--require anti-histamines a.s.a.p. It's nasty--as soon as I walk further than my garage I get that whole internal/external gigantic impossible itchiness & watery eyes & sneezing, etc. My eyelashes hurt! Do you take anything?
Kate.

Hi Nelly, Overqualified! Did you tell him that you would accept what they offer? You ought to try and get a job with the government, you could then get all the insurance you would ever need, not to mention a good pension, etc. Good luck with the job hunting! -Bob

I got the job. They called 40 mins after my interview to say it was mine! Nelly does the 9 to 5 starting Monday!
You guys rock. Thanks for the strength!! I'll need some of it when I get up by 5am in order for my stomach to get out of bed by 7am Monday morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Excited and cautiously happy!

I really need a government job! It would be great to be in a "virtually can't get fired" situation. Plus the health insurance thing and 401 K (mine is languishing lazily at the mo)!
I'm up for bid for two other contracts with DOL and DOE, so maybe I'll have more work coming soon. I'm arranging to get travel insurance for the Thai vacation in May, so at least i'll be covered for that.
Thanks for the good luck, Bob! It definitely helped to have you guys in my corner!

Ooo, I hear you on the antihistamines! I've gone through all of them I think (comtrex, contac, sudafed-- all colors, corecedien (sp), allegra, claritin, etc.)! Now all I take is the hard stuff! Yeah, give me a couple of benedryl and I'm alll good!! (nelly wobbling a bit)!
It's so great that spring is actually here, but ack! The cost! Beats being SAD all the time, tho!

Yeah, me too--the hard stuff. Benadryl does me good, too.
It's so funny how quickly SAD took a hike for a few months, within a week's time frame. However, come November...
You do sound less SAD, too.

Nelly, I rarely just smile and well...I keep catching myself doing it without (gasp) premeditation. The colour & glow is back on my cheeks. It won't disappear! What am I to do without my SAD to keep me in the dust???
Okay, it's sunny and while I'm photophobic (real and artificial light really hurt!), I'm sitting by a big window with a mountain of books and a pot of tea and just catch myself blankly staring at the trees and the forest.
I have a light issue (medication side effect is major photophobia). But I feel like a cat sitting here by the window.
And, I even vaccumed up my own dust, yesterday.
I'm just apprehensive, slightly, to go outside as it triggers my urge to smoke--this is formerly known as good smoking weather!
I popped some Claritin. So, what did you end up buying BF?
Kate.

It was raining here yday and the day before, and I think I was a little moody as a result. I took 2 ambien last night and my amatriptyline dose (1/4 of a 25mg pill) and although I had some crazy nightmares where there were like 30 redheaded people shouting in my face (??!), I'm much calmer this morning.
I can tell the AD is working because instead of having stomach pains, I break out in a sweat instead. Back is sweating as I write...
It's beautiful out this morning! I must get more sun!! I scratched up my leg something horrible by accident with a thumbtack buried in my bed (ugh) so no tanning salon for me this weekend! I'll have to figure out a way to spend time outdoors.
I got BF Rollarblades for his bday. He loved them. Just in case he didn't I got him a couple of Raptor hard drives for his computer. (He really liked those too.)
April is bday month, as mine's at the end of the month too. Already I've scored a sanyo mp3 player, and I love it!!!!!

Hi Nelly, Well, you know, it just so happens that I know a senior analyst in the State Dept. I just found out about it. I know that sounds strange but here's the story. I went to Rutger's University in NJ as an undergrad from 1972 to 1976. When I was a freshman in '72, an older fellow that was two years older than me that lived down the hall needed a roomate. It just so happened that I had a big crush on his little sister who was my age. So I thought, hey I'll get to see his sister a lot more often, and hopefully I can get her to go out with me. Well, I did get to see her a lot more often, but I never did get her to go out with me<laugh>. He and I did get along pretty good, but we weren't close friends or anything.I was a sports type jock guy and he was a real hippy type dude. I recently got the Rutger's Alumni 2006 directory and saw that he is now with the State Dept., which considering his previous disposition, really shocked me. But that was 34 yrs. ago . His name is Charles Hausheer and his sister's name is Marie, in case you ever happen to interview with him. -Bob

Hey Nelly, I've got to ask, Why exactly did they ask you about due North? I'm re-reading Skinny Legs and All by Tom Robbins. Have you read it? right after I read this post by you, I picked up the book and the next page I read was "This is the room where the black virgin was kidnapped, later to be caged in the grand mosque at Mecca. After all these years they are still interrogating her about the location of true north. 'Why won't the pole star stand still' is what they want to know. That and...One Other Thing."
Don't ask me what it means! But a weird little coincidence. Dan
