I met a woman who works at the salon I go to who is going to do my wedding day hair and makeup. She can do my hair and makeup there or she said she is off on my wedding day and can do it at my home. What is better? She would obviously have to bring ALL her stuff over here but I think she prefers that. It's not extra to have her come here.
Is it better? Also, my bridesmaid (Tommy's sis) is going to have her do her hair and she doesn't care if it's here or the salon.

both mine and my sisters wedding they came to us and did everyone there.. MUCH more relaxed and easier... not neccesarily at home- wherever you're going to be prepping and getting dressed- we did it at the location for the ceremony for me and in a hotel suite for my sisters... Left the guys with her house.

For my wedding we had the stylist come to my bridal suite and do it there. They did have alot of stuff to bring but it turned out awesome. They did all of my girls hair and then we had someone come seperate for makeup. It made it much easier I think. Good luck! When is the wedding?

I would say definitely at home. I was a bridesmaid for my cousin's wedding and she had a team come to her house. It was nice, because we could all drink our tea/coffee, nibble on breakfast, laugh and talk without disturbing the whole salon. It was such a relaxed atmosphere. I loved it.

When my sil got married, we had a friend come to the church and do our hair. She worked at a salon that was too far away from the wedding and she had the day off. She just brought her big bag and went person by person. If she wants to do you hair at your home I would think that would be nice. It's one less stress you have to worry about.

I went out to the hairdresser but got the makeup done at home, it was so nice to be at home rather than rushing around on the morning of my wedding.

The wedidng is in June. The ceremony and reception site are very far from where I live so I don't think she would travel there. Besides, I want to have my hair and makeup done in the morning.
My ffriend that got married last year bought all her makeup at MAC and had them show her how to apply it correclty. I called MAC and they said that they would do a full makeup application (foundation, blush, eyes, lips) for $50 and that would include buying $50 worth of product. My makeup lady says she doesn't have any cosmetics to sell and I should use my own. So to me, I think I'm almost better off using MAC, having the actual lipstick, blush and powder that she used to bring with me to touch up all day/night? But she won't come to my home and I'd have to go to a Macy's counter to have it done? Let me correct that, she will come to my home but it would be double what the other one charge so that's not going to happen!!!
Help!

I had a student from cosmetics school do EVERYONE's makeup (including going to my MIL's house also) and it cost me somewhere around $100 - 150 for 8 women. She used my own makeup, but she bought me a free lipstick that I could touch up for the day. Also, she recommended I buy powdered papers to touch up during the day as well. You can get them almost anywhere. You just blot them on your face and it picks up the moisure and oil keeping you fresh.

They have MAC at Nordstroms too, if one's closer! I haven't been for a while, but when I went to get my face done it didn't cost a thing and I didn't have to buy anything (but I bought a tube of skin silk equalizer for $16 anyway).
For your wedding, I'd go with someone you trusted. You might have to do a trial run beforehand. The place that did my hair did my makeup too when I was maid of honor at my best friend's wedding, back in the day I had a best friend. She did a great job, but if it was hideous I wouldn't have had time to change it. I say do it up at the rehersal the week before. If you're having a rehersal, that is.

I'd say go for the MAC lady ONLY, and I stress ONLY, if she is worth a darn. My friend went to one and she sucked. Bad. Just because she works at MAC doesn't mean she is necessarily good. Ask her to apply some makeup on you so you can view her work before you make an appointment. She should oblige if she wants your business. If she says she can't do it, then look elsewhere.
My personal preference, I only wear MAC because the makeup is good for my sensitive skin, it stays on beautifully and their colors are exquisite.

Another MAC fan here! We have an actual MAC store in the mall!! My girlfriend and I go every couple of weeks and we definitely have our favorite girls! They are always more than willing to put make-up on us, for free! Granted, we spend a healthy (ok, maybe its not so healthy ) about of money there!
I would most definitely go and meet this women, look at her make-up and ask her to do a preview on you before you "sign up!" I think buying and having the actual lip stick, powder and blush for touch ups is a must! Especially if you are getting your make-up done early!

She did my eyes (mostly browns) and we looked at a few different lipstick shades. We found one that I liked but when I got home I looked at my MAC lipstick that I already had and it was nicer so I'd keep that.
She seemed pretty good but she said it wouldn't necessaily be her doing it on my wedding day.
**** oh ya, when Tommy got home from work her didn't know I went to a MAC counter and he actually said my makeup looked REALLY good. So I told him who did it and he said it looked very nice. That's a good sign!

Nelly, no rehearsal. It's an outdoor wedding and the wedding party is so small so we all decided there was no need for one.
See my new post above, I did go for a trial run at MAC after all.

Ok thanks Michele. I did go and was pretty happy with the result. I agree that having the cosmetics is a huge plus!

That's a great idea. I wonder if there are any in the area?
I have some blotting paper from the Body Shop and they're super! I'll include them in my bag.

This is what you have to look forward to!!!!
I'm leaning towards just having the makeup artist come here. I don't think I'd want to go to Macy's with my hair all done up. It would ruin the relaxed feeling I want for the day.

We set up a big room and all us girls got ready there...we did our own makeup but a girl came to do our hair... then again it was a dreary day in December and none of us wanted to risk getting all "ruined". Truly it was fun doing it this way because we had a fruit tray and snacks and helped each other, I loved it.
