My mom just called me, my dad was having trouble breathing and collapsed. My 18-year-old brother had to call the ambulance, my mom was just getting off of work. Both of my brothers (the other one is 17) and my mom are at the hospital, but the doctors haven't told them anything yet. I'm waiting for my brother or mom to call me as soon as they know something.
Waiting is the worst, especially from 5 hours away the night before your senior design presentation for the term. Please keep my dad in your thoughts tonight, I'd really appreciate it.

Thoughts and prayers that all is well. Let us know how he's doing. I remember having to write midterms when my Dad was having triple heart bypass surgery. I understand how hard it can be when your heart is another place. Hugs, Alicia.

Apparently my dad had the nasty respiratory flu this past weekend, and let himself get too dehydrated. To the point where his blood pressure is 86/62. And he normally has high blood pressure, so his bp meds probably didn't help this. So they're pumping him full of IVs and think that is all that's wrong with him, but will reevaluate once they get his blood pressure back up.
For now, I'm taking a deep breathe and attempting to unwind myself from being freaked out.

The same thing happened to my boss when we were at a function...he flat passed out, started shaking and we all thought he was having a heart attack only to find out he was dehydrated. It was scary as could be but thank God he is OK...bruised ego was the worst of it.

They ended up pumping 4 IVs in him, and he was sent home late last night. He was well enough to send me one of his silly email forwards, so I'm thinking he's doing ok. My brother said something about decreased kidney function when I talked to him last night, but didn't remember the details (he's 17, so I don't blame him). I'm going to call my dad later today to check on him, I figure I'll let him sleep in some today.
My presentation went awesome this morning, at least, we only had 2 really easy questions, so our reviewers really liked out presentation!

School went pretty well today, our presentation went really well, which is great. It's the last week of classes for the term (we're on the quarter system), and finals next week, but I've only got a take home one due Sunday, and an in-class one on Tuesday and I'm done for a week and a half!
I'm worried about my brother who had to deal with seeing my dad collapse. Neither of my brothers went to school today, but the one who was home when my dad collapsed isn't dealing with it very well, and my mom's not helping much since (I assume, I haven't gotten to speak to her) she is very stressed as well. Unfortunately I have obligations for the week and a half of break, so I can't head home to see if I can help at all (plus a lack of funds for a train ticket home). For now, I'm just going to keep calling to check up on things and reminding my brother to call me if he needs me, even if it's just to talk.

as per our previous discussion...I'll keep you in my THOUGHTS!:)
Hang in there. It all happens at once, then nothing happens for months and life feels mundane, right? Ugh if life would just learn to pace itself.
