Shell, you're just in a funk right now; it will pass, I promise. Just think about all that's happened in your life lately; it's TOO MUCH! Dieting, as you know, takes all our focus; there's no room for anything else. And then, when your favorite uncle comes down with esophageal cancer, there goes the focus.
You totally know how to do this. I keep thinking back on the "BEFORE" picture of you, Shell, which blew my mind when I first saw it -- and still does! You have come SOOOOO far and done SOOOOOO well, this is just a VERY slight setback for you. I'm not going to make any suggestions, because by now you already know 'em all. Just don't be so hard on yourself; give yourself a break. You'll get over this funk when things calm down a little.
Do yourself a favor. Pull out that "BEFORE" picture, then look in the mirror. I guarantee you'll feel better.

Hi there...I just wanted to share this with you: I have been really trying to get motivated to lose some weight. I lost about 20 lbs a year ago and would like to lose another 15...so as I searched this website for tips and all, I came across your story. I saw that eating for IBS CAN help with weight loss and exercise and everything. It really motivated me. I started my diet a couple of weeks ago and feel great. I just wanted you to know that your story really inspires people. Good luck with everything and I hope this makes you feel a bit better! You look fantastic in your 'after' pic! Aly

I've been carrying around 50 extra pounds for over 7 years now. I'm tired of it. I don't have to carry it around. I am making new effort - as in today will be day 3 - to make time for exercise so that I can lose some weight. It's just plain bad for your health, and the longer I put off doing it, the worse I will be for the laziness. Please, keep going! I've not said a lot, but your HUGE change in health has been so amazing to see, and it's time I follow in your footsteps.

Shell, I agree with Bevvy! You've come SO far and are just in a funk and rightfully so with all that is going on! Don't beat yourself up over a small set back! Like Bevvy suggested, pull out the before pictures if you need a reminder just how far you've come! Hang in there!!

Thanks Bevrs for your support!! Your RIGHT..... it is the "focus" that is gone.... or maybe it is just a little blurry right now.... but I'm trying to change that!!
I will have to get out the before & after pics again.... they are at the bottom of my gym bag...guess it is time to dig them back out.

Wow... I did not realize that people were still reading my story.... maybe I need to go back and read it myself... maybe that will give the "focus" as Bevrs called it....to see how far I HAVE come already.... thank you so much for taking the time to post your message to me. Shell,
You are an inspiration to us all. Not only do you have this wonderful story about your weight loss but you are always on the boards so positive and full of joy and good advice and support for others.
You are going through quite a bit right now so don't be so hard on yourself. You are so dedicated to your exercise, getting healthy and fit and I am also so impressed with how you are able to stick to exercising 5 days a week. That is difficult but you are able to stick with it because you have goals.

Hi Michele Darlin.....
I did one even better... I looked at my drivers license picture that was taken in Sept 2002... EEEEEKKKKKK Who the heck was that?!?!? LOL I tried to take a pic with my camera phone to post, but it did not turn out... i'll have to try at home with the real camera!

I hope that you get over your "blah" feeling. I remember seeing your before and after pictures and you look like a totally different person now. The transformation was amazing!
Just as you take a vacation from work once in a while, you shouldn't be afraid of taking a vacation from exercise once in a while too. It doesn't mean you're cheating, only that your body and mind need a break.
You've already proven to yourself that you can do it, so don't be afraid to give yourself a rest -- then go back and train hard enough to bring yourself to the next level!
