I had my test for Crohn's today

I had the test before (small bowel follow through) but I must say having it here is WAY better than Canada. The barium drink was MUUUUUCH easier to drink and a lot less thick. It only took me an hour to complete the test while it took me 5 hours in Canada!!!!
My doc should have the results back today. Please cross your fingers that I DON'T have Crohn's.
p.s. Tommy took the day off and came with me. He bought me bagels for breakfast - after the test. He let me nap for 2 or more hours and when I got up he had gone out and bought me a BEAUTIFUL bouquet of flowers and..... Indian food (my specal request as I haven't had Indian food since I've moved here). YUM! Here's a public thank you to the world's best husband!!

Hi Tina,
I am so glad the test didn't go as badly as the one you had before! 5 hours sounds like a NIGHTMARE! The last time I had to have one of the barium drinks (for an upper GI) it was way better than the one I had a couple of years ago, so hopefully they are getting better with that! Did they make you drink something really, really fizzy first?
All my fingers and toes are crossed for you, I'll be checking in to see about your results!
I am so glad that you have Tommy there with you, that is so sweet that he brought you flowers and everything!
Good luck, and keep us updated!
**hugs** --Steph

Yes 5 hours was hard. I had to sit in a little waiting room the size of a closet and they would ask me to try getting x-rayed every hour or so. It was super annoying!
This was a walk in the park. When the doc told me I could leave I kept thinking he'd change his mind and I've have to get undressed again and back into one of those hideous paper gowns.
Yes the test started with a super fizzy drink but it wasn't as bad as the one in Canada either. It didn't taste nearly as bitter and icky. Maybe they are finally improving things for us patients. Maybe they actaully tried it and it made them throw up! ha ha
Tommy is so sweet. He had an ibs attack at 3am this morning and he still came with me.
I'll post an update as soon as I find out.
I just read your post, I hope your week gets better. UGH! If it makes you feel any better, after today's icky test tomorrow I have to go to the gyno's. Fun, fun.

Ah yes, the tiny Canadian hospital waiting rooms... how well I know them. Did they keep making you roll around on the table? That was the funniest part to me... there was a guy in the room with me who I am pretty sure was only there to help me adjust said horrible paper gown every time they made me flip over 'cause it kept getting all tangled up!
Yikes, what a terrible day for you!!! Good luck at the gyno. As my sister says, "Have a Pappy Day!"

You two are so cute. Reminds me of 39 years ago. Thanks for the memories!
Sweetie, I'll keep you in my prayers. What will be, will be, and I know that whatever it is, you can handle it, especially with someone on your side like Tommy.
I'm keepin' a positive thought for ya, Girlfriend.

Quick note for you Tina, I'm glad your test wasn't that bad and I hope everything turns out normal! I have a hubby who is wonderful with the medical stuff (and everything else in life too, for that matter) and it makes such a huge difference! You and Tommy are lucky to have each other!
We'll be waiting to hear your results.
Also - DON'T stop with the doctor when you hear the resutls no matter what they are - you need to know what plans he has for treatment to address whatever it is that's causing the problems he found in your blood tests!
Good luck Tina.

Thanks Mindy! Tommy's great, I'm so glad we found each other too! I'm also happy to hear that your hubby is a great man as well! YAY!
I will persist with the doctor. Thanks for the gentle nudge, it would be so easy to get "all clear" resuls and just leave it at that.
Thanks Mindy!!!!

Thanks Bevy. We're still in our honeymoon stage which I hope lasts forever!
I know I'll be able to handle whatver it is, I know I can be tough when I need to be. I am just hoping it's only ibs. Having a supportive hubby beside me will always be so helpful and comforting.
Thanks Bevy!

Yes, it's kinda nice that we both have the same ailment. He also had the GI test that I had today before so he knew what to expect.
I'm so in love!
Thanks Nel!

I'm hoping that you DON'T have Crohn's! Hurrah for getting the test done and that it went by much faster than the one you had in Canada.
I think it's absolutely wonderful that you and Tommy have each other! What a partnership! It's great to have someone you love who understands what you're going through and who knows how to make you happy. So sweet! I wish you both the best in everything!

Tina, I hope everything turns out okay for you. I'm so glad the test was easier than you expected. Boy, you're sure lucky to have a guy like Tommy. I'm 51 and I've never experienced that kind of sweetness. It makes me happy for you both! By the way, what the heck do you mean by Indian food? I know I sound like a dumb prairie girl, but here in Kansas, Indian food is made by real Indians. (Cherokee, Comanche, Apache, etc. ) No kidding. They make Indian fry bread and Indian tacos to raise money. At the risk of sounding stupid, I'm wondering if that's what you mean or do you mean food from India. And if so, what is it? I've just never heard of it other than what I mentioned. Terri

I have to agree that Tommy is sweet. I hope you gte tht sweetness soon!
Terri! It's made by Indians from India! It is very flavourful and somewhat spicy food. I had a chickpea curry with basmati rice and naan bread. YUMMY! It luckily doesn't give me ibs problems. Actually a lot of the spices that they use are super good for your tummy (turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, etc) but just make sure to ask for it MILD.

Nope, not on Carling but I know that facility!
It was at the Kent St. medical building in Centertown. They have an x-ray lab in the basement.
Seven hours???!!!! OMG, I thought I broke a record at 5 hours. You win!

I thought I'd know by today for sure. Nope. I hope that this means it's not Crohn's and an immediate phone call isn't needed. At least this way I can enjoy my weekend.
Thanks for asking Shelby!

I wonder why he even bothered to tell you that you'd have an answer yesterday! Don't they understand that we sit at home and wait for these things!!! OH well, maybe no news IS good news. Did they do a biospy of any kind? Maybe they had to send it out and you won't get the results till it comes back?
Keep us posted! Keeping fingers/toes crossed it's not Chron's!!!!!
