Hi people. I'm new to this site but am trying desparately to help myself with this info. I've been battling IBS/Diverticulosis for several years and am trying to keep from going back to a doctor. I just ordered one of the kits with the books and some of the tea last night. I am really hoping I can stay away from sugar (I'm addicted!) and other things that mess me up. Thanks!

Hello and Welcome! Honestly, you should see a dr just to rule out other things. Sugar isn't necessarily a trigger, artificial sugars, such as aspartame are but real sugar shouldn't be. Too much fat can be a trigger, so depending on how your consuming your sugar, it can be an issue though!

Welcome to Our World! Oh yeah. I have IBS - "D", Diverticulosis, and an addicted to sugar. Yep, we've got a LOT in common! In fact, my favorite little Cocker Spaniel that I had as a little girl was named Suzy-Q.

Okay, now down to the heavy stuff: Heather's books are our Bibles. If you follow the diet to the letter, and don't cheat, you'll get better. Focus on some of the delicious things you CAN eat, NOT on the things you can't. I've been on Heather's program for 3-4 years now, and I'm happy to say I'm stable.

The diverticulosis can be nasty; how many diverticulitis attacks have you had? I've had only two, and thankfully seem to be doin' okay now that I've cut out all seeds from my diet.

Sugar is a problem. I'm on Weight Watcher's, and I'm trying to limit my sugar intake by having just a tiny bit to satisfy my craving without over-indulging. So far, it's been just over a month now, and I'm doin' real well with it (and sleeping PHENOMENALLY!).

I highly recommend our Recipe Board. There are some FABULOUS recipes in there (and yes, some of them are mine). Those recipes got me through some pretty tough times. You can't miss the ADBs! ("Anti-Depressant Brownies"). Do a search for 'em, and you'll be blown away!

This is do-able, SueZQ, I'm proof of that. You came to the right place!

Hi, you've come to a great place. There are always answers and encouragement here. I've had IBS for 14 years and Heather's books were a last resort for me. Thank goodness I found her. After a decade of severe IBS-D symptoms with all the toppings, I started Heather's diet and I am happy to stay am now very stable. Listen to Heather's and the other member's advice. It's priceless.
