okay. inspired by ruchie (and images of my bleeding lips, sigh), i'm gonna try to break this addiction. anyone in? (okay, i was also inspired by not being able to find my lip gloss this morning.)
i'm not going entirely cold-turkey - plain vaseline seems to be less addictive than my usual stuff, but i'm gonna see how i can do without it at all, to go longer and longer without anything on my lips, and try to wean myself off.
of course, without lip gloss my lips are paler, too. but maybe once my addiction's broken i can look at that issue again.
wish me luck. we'll see how long this lasts.

haha I want to try too.. unfortunately, school is starting back up and the vision of bloody lips, scabbed up lips right now isn't too appealing. I should try to wean myself off though.. my addiction is pathetic.

so far, and it's just been one day, and with a little vaseline, they don't feel chapped, like they'll bleed, but just a little tight. we'll see...

Hi gals, I too am a chapstick fanatic. Did ya hear about the duck that walked into the pharmacy and ordered a case of chapstick. The pharmacist asked him how he wanted to pay and said....................................................... "Just put it on my bill" Cheers

Maybe I'm in denial, but my chapstick/lotion addictions are truly not a problem for me. My moisturizing products are a small thing that make my lips/skin feel better. It's not bad for me or anything, so I feel no need to break the habit!

i just feel *addicted* to it, as opposed to, say, hand lotion, which i love, but can live without for a day.
and what someone said about kissing is true... if my need for lip gloss is distracting me from that, well, that points to a problem.
i just felt like i wanted to be less dependent on it, and it had seemed like there might be other people here in the same boat. but i can be inspired by my lonesome, too.

well, i'll tell you, i think the vaseline transition is working - i can go much longer w/out anything coming from vaseline than lip gloss, making it easier to wean myself off.

that a lot of commercial lip glosses really DO have ingredients in them that really ARE addictive - put in there just to make you addicted to them and to keep using them!
...and that's your conspiratorial update of the day!

I haven't had much time to respond to posts lately, but I just had to laugh at this thread. I was also addicted to Chapstick!! I had to reapply it constantly or my lips would feel tight and funny.
I now use Carmex. I apply it maybe 3-4 times per day. I probably would apply it a lot less but I have a really bad habit of picking at the skin of my lips (gross, I know -- it's a nervous twitch thing and most of the time I don't even realize I'm doing it).
good luck!!
