Hi everybody..I hope you all are doing well! I haven't been around much, don't have much time right now...no one tells you that the first 6-8 weeks are a lot harder than you'd ever imagine Grant is doing great though - he's sooo darn cute! He's 5 weeks old today - I can't believe it! He had his appointment yesterday and already weighs 11 lbs, 8 oz...he's gained almost 4 pounds!

He smiles all the time, it just makes me melt. You think you love your husband!! What a different kind of love....it's wonderful.

He's nursing SOOO well, I love it. He's still not sleeping great though - I haven't slept more than a 2 hour stetch yet! Yikes. Hopefully that'll change soon. It is much easier to get up in the night though when he's smiley and cuddly. He just needs to figure out day and night. Heck, not sleeping is SOOO much better than throwing up a million times! No complaining here!

I hope everyone is doing great! I'm hoping to at least be able to read through some threads right now. Cross your fingers that he doesn't start fussing for at least 10 minutes!

<<<HUGS>>>

He LOVES that Bumbo! He can't hold his head up yet...so we have to sit there with him and make sure it doesn't flop around... But he loves it. He actually fussed when we took him out of it! It's so good for developing their 'sitting' muscles. All my neighbors told me to get one, I'm glad I did!
The Boppy pillow is awesome too - it's probably the one thing I couldn't live w/o in the middle of the night when I don't have the strength to hold him up to nurse. He sits in it while I get ready in the morning too!

I think his hair is simply adorable. It is just sticking up all over and it makes him soooo cute . One trick that I used to get my son to start realizing day and night was during the day we opened all the blinds and doors and let the sun come in and then at night we shut them and dimmed the lights. After about 3 months he caught on. He still woke up for a feeding but went right back down. Good luck. Thanks for posting pics.

He's a doll Cara! I understand with the nursing thing. Noah nursed every 2 hours until he was 8 weeks old. Then I had to supplement with formula because I was going back to work in 4 weeks and needed to start getting some sleep. Those green pacifiers are great. Noah loved his. It sounds like things are going well.

Glad to know you and Grant are doing so well. It does get easier, I promise.

I think he's adorable too! Everyone comments on his hair...it's so funny. I love it. He peed on it yesterday though! LOL! His pee went directly on his forehead and soaked his whole head when I was changing him...I felt so bad - one of the downfalls of having a boy!

My husband just found out he passed his Professional Engineering exam!! YAYAYAYAYAY!! This is a GREAT day! For those who don't know - when we graduate we take an FE exam - 8 hour engineering exam so that you can become an Engineer-in-training...then 5 years later you take a PE exam...another 8 hour test that's much harder because you've been out of school for so long...he took it in October and just found out he passed. I'm SOOO happy! We could definately use a raise right now.

Anyways - off subject....but thank you for all your replies! I'm sorry I'm so busy and can't respond to everyone... love to all of you! Especially you, Michele, I'm thinking about you and praying for you. <<BIG HUGS>>

Cara--my husband took that test in October too (near Halloween), and he's the smartest guy I know but his results still aren't online. How did you guys find out? Online, or a letter? I'm debating calling someone. Mind you, he didn't ask me to do this, I'm just impatient!

I love the static hair goin on! He's just adorable Cara! Yes and no one tells you the hard parts of having a newborn. Heck if we all knew what we were in for we'd never reproduce! It's so worth it though. It goes so quick and each stage you find fun and not so fun. But you are right about it being a different kind of love. Our dog was our child for a few years. Then my first son came, dog got put on backburner. Second child came, mom gets on backburner with hubby. It's a viscious circle! Phase though, just remember that, it's all a phase. Enjoy your time with him. Before you know it he'll be two! Lots of luck to you
sweetie!!!!

I just want to nibble on his knees! I'm glad that he's doing so well. The no sleep thing stinks but you're right, I'm sure it's better than throwing up. I love the picture of him at the end in the yellow towel - what a little smile I love it!

Take care and a nap!

Thanks! I know what you mean about the dogs... I love them SOOO much, and I knew I wouldn't be able to give them all the attention anymore - I kept telling myself I would NOT let them be put on the backburner...but it's almost impossible not to! Makes me sad I am glad they have eachother at least. They are great with the baby too....we have them gated into a certain area...and I had the baby on the laying on the ground in his Baby Einstein..and I went to get the mail and take the trash in, and Emeril got out of the gate. When I came in I was freaked out that he stepped on the baby or scratched him or something...but Grant was smiling and Emeril was just sitting next to him! It was really cute.

Ok I better get going...never enough time!

Oh gosh Noah is the king of peeing all over the place. He still does!! I can't let him run around naked after a bath or I know he will pee on my carpet. Even if he already did in the tub!! LOL! The funniest thing he ever did was pee on himself. He was about 6 months old and I didn't have him covered on the changing table. I looked away for a moment to grab a wipe and when I turned around he was giving himself a golden shower. You should have seen his face!! LOL! He didn't know what had happened! He also shot it across the wall and peed on his bookcase. It always amazed me how far he could shoot!! Oh and I got it many times in the face when he was younger. It took me a few times to learn to cover it all the time!!
