I tried to do it without meds. I tried things naturally. No go. (In fact...be careful! Certain herbs can actually make things worse. Feel free to post questions re. the different herbs out there...like melatonin, valerian, etc.)

I think people tend to assume because something is "natural" that it's safe. That's not necessarily true! With prescription medications, you're under the supervision of a doctor, the medications are regulated so you know EXACTLY what you're getting and how much, and there is (usually) plenty of information from studies and clinical trials to let you make an informed decision about your meds.

I don't know if meds/therapy is the answer for you. But please keep in mind a)this is not your fault b)this is a chemical imbalance in your brain (it is a MEDICAL issue...NOT emotional) c)it doesn't have to be this way. You can feel better!

Thank you! This actually made me feel better about my own situation!

Well thank you all for your support! - it did help me get through the night. Once again it was good old IBS in a slightly different guise - my symptoms are always a little different and keep me guessing as to whether this time is the "real thing" meaning having to throw up.
----I'm going back to therapy - and to answer some questions from your posts - I am currently on zoloft and buspar low dosage of each. Also I do have xanax but hate to take it bc it leaves me in a fog the next day and its hard to get to work. It is REALLY helpful though. I've taken it twice since I got the rx this past July. Oh and no, I don't pray, its not for me though I know it helps many of you.
I may try hypnosis or biofeedback with a practitioner especially if I can find one in my neighborhood or near my job. Thank you everyone!
