I did it... I chopped off my long hair. I just needed a change! Here are the before (well, a couple of months ago) and after photos! The curl is natural, it was just weighed down by all that hair!

Looks GREAT!!!

Years ago, I let my shoulder length hair grow to my waist...just out of curiosity...I had really long hair till I was 5 and my mom had it chopped off (price you pay for being tenderheaded with really long hair! lol). I left it long for about 3 years, then got tired of it getting stuck in the car door, wrapping around my neck at night....all those things, so...back to the shoulder length. But about 2 weeks ago...I went a bit shorter...not as short as yours (I don't have a neck good enough for short hair) but I like it! I'm happy as long as I have enough to pull up in a ponytail!

Your new cut looks great...and you're lucky to have the natural curls!

Looks great! You'd look so nice as a red head, ever thought of colouring your hair?

it looks great!! i used to have hair down past my waist, and then, senior year of college, i cut it to my chin (and donated it to lock of love!) - it's such a great feeling, and i love my short hair. hope you enjoy your new look!

Thanks everyone! This definitely makes me feel perkier, lol.

Tommy, I actually dyed my hair red once in high school, and I liked it a lot. I swear I should have been born a redhead, since my father is one AND my grandfather on my mother's side was, too. Maybe I'll give the red another go. Thanks for the good suggestion.

LOL! I went Halle Berry short about 4 years ago. Somehow I didn't end up looking like her, either. Funny how that happens.

Looks great!

You have more courage than I. Every now & then, I think I about going short again, but I just can't do it. Besides, it would probably freak out my husband.

I hope you are happy with the new look! I think it looks just fantastic!

I am thinking of doing some drastic cutting myself. Currently, my hair looks like your before shot! Unfortunately, I don't have the beautiful curl that you have.

Shorter hair TOTALLY suits you!

How are you liking it? I remember when I first chopped mine off from that same long length... I kept shaking my head because it was so weird to have hair bouncing around my ears! Heh.

Casey's right; short hair totally suits you

I had mine down to my butt my whole life then in high school I cut it all off to about that length too - it felt GREAT! And then recently I'd let it grow out about the length you had it. Just before new years I cut it to about shoulder length and I'm loving it Definitely has a feeling of renewal, doesn't it?

Again, you look fabulous

I just whacked mine off last week also! I think it's maybe about the same length as yours, but it's more layered so it's hard to tell. Refreshing, isn't it?

What a change! It really changes your image! You look much more modern. Still classic, but definitely updated.

Although, I can imagine, that it still feels like a shock. Rest assured, though, that it's gorgeous. It must be very odd waking up in the morning, all bleary eyed & groggy and not have that hair to battle with!

Kate.

You guys are too sweet! You certainly know how to make a girl feel good about herself. I haven't been online since yesterday and was amazed to see the responses here!

It sounds like quite a few of us girls here have chopped our hair recently. Anyone else have any before and after photos?? I'd love to see them!

BTW, I decided to wear my hair straight today, and I like it just as much. Yay for versatility.

Hey Jaime,

How long does your hair have to be donate it? My hair is almost half way down my back and I am thinking of donating it as well. What was the process you went through? Thanks! *hugs*
